Overview
Coinbase is an American cryptocurrency company founded in 2012 that operates the largest regulated digital asset exchange in the United States. It serves retail customers through a consumer app and advanced trading interface, institutions through prime brokerage and custody, and developers through infrastructure including the Base layer-two network and staking services. Listed on Nasdaq since its 2021 direct listing and run as a remote-first company, it also co-founded the USDC stablecoin with Circle and derives a growing share of revenue from subscriptions, custody fees and blockchain rewards rather than trading commissions alone.
