The Commerce Undergraduate Society is the official student organization for commerce students at the University of British Columbia, dedicated to supporting their personal, academic, and professional development. Through its various committees and initiatives, the society works to enhance the overall university experience and facilitate connections between students and industry professionals.

The Education & Resources Coordinator supports the VP Education & Resources in developing and maintaining CUS Pride’s educational initiatives, resources, workshops, and campaigns throughout the year. This role helps keep our educational materials relevant, accessible, and engaging for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community at Sauder. The Coordinator will also help brainstorm collaborations and partnerships that can expand the reach of our resources and support outreach to clubs, organizations, and community partners. Time Commitment

    School year: 4-6 hours per week

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the VP Education & Resources in organizing and facilitating queer and equity-focused workshops for CUS clubs, services, or portfolios on an as-needed basis
  • Help update, develop, and maintain educational materials and resources, including CUS Pride’s blog
  • Research relevant 2SLGBTQIA+ topics, resources, and community issues to support educational content
  • Brainstorm potential collaborations and partnerships that can help promote and expand the reach of CUS Pride’s educational resources
  • Assist with outreach to clubs, organizations, community groups, and other potential partners to bring collaborations to life
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that support a more inclusive and affirming student culture at Sauder
  • Provide support at all CUS Pride events
  • Attend weekly team meetings and actively participate in discussions

Qualifications

  • Passionate about 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy and creating inclusive spaces at Sauder
  • Interested in education, resource development, outreach, and community engagement
  • Strong written communication skills and comfortable creating clear and accessible educational content
  • Comfortable reaching out to clubs, organizations, and potential community partners
  • Open-minded and eager to learn from diverse queer experiences and perspectives
  • Able to take initiative while staying connected to the VP Education & Resources and broader team
  • Organized, reliable, and able to follow through on projects and outreach
  • Comfortable collaborating with others and contributing new ideas

Anticipated Learning Outcomes

    Education & Resources Coordinators will have the opportunity to strengthen their communication, outreach, and resource-development skills throughout their term. They will also gain experience working with internal and external partners and translating educational topics into accessible content for students. In addition, incumbents will have opportunities to use and develop skills in (but not limited to) the following areas:

  • Educational content development and inclusive communication
  • Research and resource creation
  • Community outreach and partnership building
  • Writing and content development for CUS Pride’s blog and other platforms
  • Community building and queer student advocacy
  • Working independently and collaboratively
  • Deepening knowledge of social justice and EDI practices
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Strategic planning and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
