Founded in 1968, Concern works in 25 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean with its headquarters in Ireland. Concern started working in Malawi in 2002 and currently focuses on climate and environment, social protection, gender and social inclusion, sustainable food systems for food security and partnerships. For sustainability and lasting change, our advocacy and influence, people centred and evidence-based approaches focus on system strengthening and resilience building as we seek to address the root causes of poverty.
Concern invites applications from interested candidates qualified for the following positions;
Standby Drivers – Part time (2 Vacancies)Duty Station: Lilongwe
The Standby Driver position is an on-call position where the driver will be requested, when necessary, to support the existing Concern Worldwide drivers during times of high workload.
The Standby Driver position is an on-call role in which the driver will be requested, as needed, to support Concern Worldwide’s existing drivers during periods of high workload.
• Drive Concern Worldwide vehicles for programme activities throughout Malawi to facilitate the safe movement of personnel.
• Ensure the safety of staff and resources, maintain vehicles in good condition, and handle and process travel documentation. Ensure the security of passengers in accordance with Concern Worldwide policies and comply with all traffic and other relevant laws, including speed limits.
• Ensure that passengers observe all security measures established by Concern Worldwide, including the requirement to put on seat belts at all times.
• Complete vehicle check sheets and accurately maintain all required documentation, including vehicle logbooks, fuel supply sheets, and any requested reports, submitting them on time.
• Ensure that loads and cargo are secure and transported safely, with all necessary delivery documentation correctly completed. Report any vehicle management issues immediately.
• Ensure the assigned vehicle is kept clean, both inside and outside.
• Ensure the assigned vehicle has all relevant documentation, including a valid Certificate of Fitness (COF) and insurance, and is roadworthy at all times.
• As a Concern employee, you are responsible for upholding and promoting Concern’s values in the workplace. This includes supporting equality, diversity and inclusion, and role-modelling safeguarding.
• Perform any other administrative duties as assigned
• A clean valid driving license, trained in defensive driving with a Malawi School Certificate of Education, basic computer skills and able to converse and write in English
• At least 4 years of experience in similar role in an INGO and experience in basic vehicle maintenance
• Must be computer literate
