This role is for an English-language Editor. The Editor edits proposals, reports and other client-facing documents for all service lines across Control Risks. These documents cover a wide range of subject matter, from geopolitical risk analysis and complex investigations to physical security reviews and online threat intelligence. The role is focused on supporting Control Risks’ work in the Americas (where the firm has consultants based in the US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil).

Tasks and responsibilities
- Edit proposals, reports and other complex documents for grammar, clarity and style.
- Ensure that documents can be understood by an educated, non-specialist reader without compromising the integrity of technical writing.
- Revise business documents produced by non-native English speakers and colleagues who write in British English to ensure clear, polished and professional American English.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the consultants who produce the documents we review.
- Manage time effectively to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, while working within budgetary constraints, when necessary.
- Develop the technical expertise necessary to correct the formatting of complex documents.
- Use Control Risks’ formatting and template tools to enhance the visual quality, consistency and presentation of documents.
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Native-level fluency in English, with excellent skills in editing and analytical writing. This is a firm requirement. Please provide as much detail as you can about your language skills and editing/writing capabilities in your application.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with consultants from diverse cultural backgrounds with different perspectives and personalities.
- Tremendous attention to detail, both in language and formatting/presentation.
- Mastery of MS Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred
- Prior editing experience is strongly preferred. Experience editing technical or business writing, particularly in the context of professional services, is ideal, but past successful candidates have had backgrounds in academic publishing, journalism and other areas.
- Interest in international business, risk management, security, geopolitical developments and other areas relevant to Control Risks’ work (www.controlrisks.com).
- Interest in developing or working with AI tools to complement human editing.
- Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish or Portuguese.
- Ability to enhance the visual presentation of documents through the application of graphic and information design principles.
The base salary range for this position is MXN $30,000-$40,000 per month. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
