Confirmed on the employer's own hiring board on Nov 6, 2026. First seen by Alion on Nov 6, 2026.
This position leads React.js application development and support through hands-on engineering, architectural ownership, code quality, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration with product, UX, backend specialists, and clients to deliver secure, accessible, scalable, high-performance applications.
You will own technical decisions and production readiness through spec-driven development (SDD) and responsible AI-assisted delivery. You will independently implement, review, test, debug, and correct human- and AI-generated code. Experience with AI tools is preferred, not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Lead React architecture and development; assess API, backend, and data dependencies, explain trade-offs, and align implementation with the existing architecture
- Enforce coding standards, design patterns, and pragmatic SOLID, DRY, KISS, and Clean Code practices
- Own frontend performance, security, accessibility (WCAG), scalability, and production-readiness checks
- Plan React and framework upgrades, including compatibility checks, testing, and rollout
- Lead SDD with product, business analysis, UX, and engineering: clarify requirements, measurable acceptance criteria, edge cases, and non-functional needs; review plans and tasks, follow approval gates, and align specifications, code, and tests
- Build reusable, responsive, mobile-first, cross-browser React interfaces from UI/UX designs
- Debug browser, API, service, and deployment issues using logs, traces, and reproducible tests; validate AI-proposed fixes and make targeted corrections
- Ensure unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests cover acceptance criteria, negative paths, authorization, and non-functional needs; independently verify generated assertions and enforce CI/CD quality and security checks before merge
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery, dependencies, and risks; seek specialist review beyond personal expertise
- Engage clients on requirements, technical decisions, delivery trade-offs, technical discussions, and issue resolution
- Review human- and AI-generated changes for business logic, specification alignment, security, maintainability, dependencies, and test adequacy; approve only explainable, validated changes and provide actionable feedback
- Guide approved AI workflows with repository context, constraints, and reviewable increments; protect confidential data and credentials, respect agent permissions, and mentor developers in SDD, validation, and continuous improvement
As a Tech Lead, your additional responsibilities will be:
- Serve as the React.js expert for the team
- Establish code-review practices across the team
- Drive knowledge sharing across the frontend team
- Stay current with frontend technologies and industry best practices
Technical Qualifications:
- Experience in REST API integration and review, covering contracts, validation, authentication, authorization, business rules, and error handling, with practical Node.js/TypeScript or equivalent backend capability to trace issues and make targeted corrections
- Expertise in React.js, including functional components, hooks, context, and performance optimization; strong TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS, and modern styling skills
- Experience with Jest/Vitest, React Testing Library, and integration/end-to-end equivalents, with the ability to assess test quality beyond passing results
- Experience with Redux, Zustand, or equivalent state management, and sound component and application design
- Experience in accessible, responsive, mobile-first, cross-browser development
- Experience with Git, focused pull requests, and peer review, including versioning specifications and implementation artifacts and linking code and tests to acceptance criteria
- Experience in technical leadership across architecture, reviews, mentoring, and cross-stack delivery coordination
- Experience in specification-based delivery using acceptance criteria, plans, and review gates, and in Agile/Scrum with Jira or equivalent tools
- Experience in logging and frontend monitoring with Sentry, Application Insights, Datadog, or equivalent tools for production troubleshooting
- Understanding of CI/CD, environment configuration, secrets, deployment validation, and rollback; familiarity with micro-frontends and cloud-hosted frontend deployment on AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus
- Knowledge of npm/Yarn, Vite/Webpack, linting, and dependency management
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including relationships, constraints, transactions, indexes, and migrations; ability to review queries and data access for integrity, performance, and safe parameters, seeking specialist support when needed
- Familiarity with Next.js or a similar React framework is a plus; familiarity with Angular, Vue.js, or other JavaScript frameworks is desirable
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding, testing, and documentation using GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent tools is preferred, including providing context and guardrails, challenging output, correcting generated code, and following approved-tool, confidentiality, credential, dependency, and agent-permission policies; Spec Kit or equivalent SDD tooling is desirable
Personal Skills:
- Translate business needs into practical solutions; identify ambiguities, missing acceptance criteria, edge cases, and unsupported assumptions
- Evaluate alternatives and challenge AI recommendations using engineering principles and validation evidence
- Explain technical details, decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly in spoken and written English to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Learn quickly, take ownership, mentor constructively, and manage competing priorities independently and collaboratively
Education and Work Experience:
- CS, IT, or related scientific background preferred
- Over 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience, with React delivery and technical leadership. Demonstrate architectural judgment, debugging, correction of unfamiliar/generated code, and acceptance-criteria validation through project evidence or a practical exercise
