Crusoe is an energy and cloud company founded in 2018 that builds data centres next to stranded and low-carbon power sources. It started by converting flared natural gas into computing capacity and has become a large supplier of graphics processing capacity for artificial intelligence training and inference. The company develops sites, energy systems and its own managed AI cloud.

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack - from electrons to tokens - to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that - with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved - people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role:

Crusoe is seeking an Associate Construction Engineer to join our Project Execution team, supporting the field execution of large-scale power generation projects for AI data center infrastructure. This role works alongside and under the direction of a senior Construction Engineer, developing the field engineering skills, construction knowledge, and technical judgment required to independently own a project's field execution scope.

You will be an active presence on construction sites - supporting inspection activities, managing field documentation, tracking RFIs and submittals, and building the cross-discipline construction knowledge that defines this career path. During construction and commissioning phases, this position requires significant site presence, requiring resident assignment. During engineering and procurement phases, site travel is limited to vendor and site visits.

What You'll Be Working On:

  • Field Engineering & Site Coordination: Support the field engineering team on active power generation construction sites, assisting with day-to-day inspection, documentation, and construction coordination activities under the direction of a senior Construction Engineer.

  • Technical Submittals & RFI Management: Assist with the review of contractor and vendor submittals, RFIs, and Field Engineering Directives (FEDs); learn to coordinate engineering responses with the project engineering team.

  • Execution Plan Review: Support the review of construction execution planning documents - including lift plans, flush plans, hydro plans, purge plans, and pre-commissioning procedures - developing technical judgment for acceptance criteria.

  • Milestone & Schedule Tracking: Assist with tracking and documenting construction progress against the project schedule and milestones; maintain open items logs, punch list status, and change order tracking.

  • Quality & Workmanship Inspections: Conduct field inspections of contractor workmanship and adherence to project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes; document findings and escalate non-conformances to the senior Construction Engineer.

  • Turnover & Mechanical Completion Packages: Support the development and management of punch lists, mechanical completion packages, and system turnover packages under senior Construction Engineer direction.

  • Commissioning & Startup Support: Assist with commissioning and startup activities, including supporting functional tests, loop checks, and performance verification activities.

  • Field Documentation & As-Builts: Maintain daily field reports, inspection records, and project documentation; capture as-built redlines and field changes for incorporation into the record document set.

  • Permitting & HSE Compliance: Coordinate work permit tracking and support site safety program compliance in collaboration with the site HSE representative.

  • Standards & Process Development: Contribute to the development of engineering, construction, and commissioning standards and procedures as directed.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or Construction Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: 2+ years of field engineering, construction management, or inspection experience on power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.

  • Cross-Discipline Field Knowledge: Developing hands-on knowledge of construction and commissioning activities across mechanical and/or electrical systems in an industrial or power generation environment.

  • Civil & Concrete Foundations: Foundational knowledge of concrete construction, including foundations, rebar placement, and formwork.

  • Structural Steel Construction: Foundational knowledge of structural steel erection, including sequencing, connections, and field inspection.

  • Electrical Power Systems: Foundational knowledge of electrical power systems installation, including conduit, cable tray, pulling, terminations, and grounding.

  • Piping & Mechanical Systems: Foundational knowledge of piping system construction, including pipe supports, welding inspection, pressure testing, and system cleanliness requirements.

  • Power Generation Assets: Foundational knowledge of power generation equipment and systems, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines, generators, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.

  • Codes & Industry Standards: Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 70, ASME B31.1/B31.3/B31.8, NEC, ANSI/IEEE) and their practical application in the field.

  • Technical Document Review: Experience supporting the review of contractor submittals, RFIs, and construction execution documents.

  • Project Scheduling: Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent); ability to read and interpret project schedules.

  • Documentation & Detail Orientation: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - able to maintain accurate field documentation, inspection records, and punch list logs in a fast-moving construction environment.

  • Site Assignment & Travel: Ability to perform extended site assignments, including weekly travel to remote project sites or resident assignment during peak construction and commissioning phases.

  • Safety & Compliance: This position is designated safety-sensitive and is located in safety-sensitive facilities. Mandatory participation in company drug, alcohol, and safety programs is required. Candidates must be able to pass a background check.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to traverse uneven terrain and active construction sites, climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, lift moderate loads (up to 40 lbs), and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions (including high heat, cold, rain, and snow) while wearing appropriate PPE.

Bonus Points:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or actively pursuing professional engineering licensure (FE/PE).

  • Prior experience supporting data center power infrastructure or modular substation execution.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
