Lead Software Engineer - Applications

In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams across Systems to understand user needs, translate them into well-designed software solutions, and continuously enhance our internal products. You will lead projects through the complete software development lifecycle from requirements gathering and solution design to implementation, deployment, and ongoing evolution, taking ownership of technical execution and delivery outcomes. In doing so, you will design and develop scalable full-stack applications and APIs, implement CI/CD pipelines, instrument applications for observability, enforce security best practices, and engineer systems that meet demanding performance, scalability, and availability targets.

You will collaborate closely with developers and technology teams across the firm, incorporating stakeholder feedback to deliver intuitive and effective user experiences. You will mentor junior engineers, lead technical design and code reviews, and champion engineering best practices to ensure our solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with firmwide standards.

Requirements:

• 6 to 8 years of extensive background in full-stack application development, product engineering, and user-focused design, along with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• The ability to lead projects from concept through delivery, balancing technical decisions with business priorities and translating complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
• A user-focused mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for solving open-ended problems while continuously improving products, engineering practices, and developer experience.
• Robust hands-on experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or Go, along with experience building modern, responsive web applications using React or comparable JavaScript frameworks.
• Robust understanding of software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving, and analytical thinking, with the ability to apply these in an agile development environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build robust relationships across engineering and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with a variety of programming languages and development environments, focusing on platform-agnostic software for Linux and Windows.
• Preferred languages include Python, JavaScript, Java, and Go.
• Advanced knowledge of front-end technologies like React and other modern JavaScript frameworks.
