Postdoctoral Research Fellow- Biostatistics/Machine Learning - Hovestadt Lab

The Hovestadt Lab in the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (https://hovestadtlab.github.io, affiliations with Boston Children’s Hospital and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard) is seeking a highly motivated computational postdoctoral research fellow. Our lab studies childhood brain tumors and leukemias, two of the most common cancers in children. We aim to better understand tumor biology using cutting-edge experimental and computational approaches. Translational goals of our research include the development of more accurate patient classification systems and novel treatment strategies.

Requirements

The postdoctoral fellow will apply modern AI techniques to accurately predict clinical outcomes and provide treatment recommendations for children with cancer. Towards this goal, the postdoc will work with large genomic datasets derived from thousands of patients. The project provides ample opportunity to advance scientific skills and to collaborate with world renowned experts in the fields of childhood brain tumor research and epigenomics. Candidates need to be passionate about cancer research and intrinsically motivated. Creativity and innovative/independent thinking are a must.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related discipline
• Strong interest in working with large biomedical/genomic datasets
• Experience in developing/applying modern AI approaches
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with scientists from other disciplines
• Good oral and written communication skills
• An outstanding academic track record
