Position overview
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with strong Drupal experience to design, build, maintain, and optimize enterprise digital experiences. This is a frontend-focused role that combines modern frontend engineering with hands-on Drupal theming and component development. You will work on scalable, accessible, and high-performing interfaces while collaborating closely with design, backend, and platform teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, responsive, accessible, and high-performing frontend experiences for enterprise Drupal applications.
Build reusable UI components using modern HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Develop and maintain sophisticated client-side functionality using React or a comparable component-based frontend framework.
Translate UX/UI designs and design system specifications into reusable production components.
Build, theme, and maintain Drupal components and templates independently for routine frontend work.
Contribute to frontend architecture, coding standards, reusable patterns, testing practices, and component library strategy.
Evaluate when functionality is best implemented with Drupal server-side rendering, progressive enhancement, or a JavaScript framework.
Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, production troubleshooting, and the continuous improvement of frontend engineering practices.
Requirements
6+ years of professional frontend or web application development experience, including ownership of production applications.
3+ years of hands-on Drupal development experience, or equivalent demonstrated proficiency in Drupal components, theming, and rendering layers.
Advanced proficiency with HTML, modern CSS/Sass, responsive design, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Production experience with React or another modern component-based frontend framework.
Hands-on experience building and theming Drupal components using Twig and Drupal rendering concepts such as preprocess functions, render arrays, Views, Blocks, entities, and fields.
Working understanding of Drupal caching, including render cache, cache tags, cache contexts, invalidation, and asset aggregation.
Ability to read PHP and understand how Drupal custom modules, services, or backend logic affect frontend behavior.
Experience building reusable, component-driven UI architectures and integrating frontend applications with APIs.
Strong understanding of accessibility and experience building WCAG-aligned interfaces.
Strong Git workflow habits and familiarity with modern frontend tooling.
Working knowledge of Composer and Drush.
Ability to troubleshoot complex application issues and collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
Nice to have
Experience with enterprise-scale Drupal platforms.
Familiarity with design systems and frontend governance.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
