About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Consultant with extensive Snowflake expertise to join us on an initial 6-month contract engagement with an immediate start.

You'll lead the technical delivery of modern data platform and BI solutions, working closely with customers and Datacom's Data & Analytics team to design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on consulting role requiring someone who can hit the ground running and confidently engage with both technical teams and customer stakeholders.

To be considered, you must be based in New Zealand and have current New Zealand working rights. Immediate availability is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and delivery of modern data platforms and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
  • Gather and clarify customer requirements through stakeholder workshops.
  • Design relational and dimensional data models across complex data environments.
  • Deliver Snowflake-based data solutions, including EDW migrations and integrations.
  • Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Optimise data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Develop Power BI solutions, semantic models, and self-service analytics.
  • Support CI/CD, Git integration, DevOps, and deployment automation.
  • Provide technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and customer guidance.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years' experience in enterprise data warehouse design and implementation.
  • 7+ years' experience in ETL architecture and design.
  • 7+ years' experience in dimensional data modelling, including Star and Snowflake schemas.
  • Advanced hands-on Snowflake experience.
  • Strong Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric experience.
  • Experience with tools such as Coalesce, dbt, Matillion, Fivetran, and Azure/Fabric Data Factory.
  • Advanced Python and SQL skills.
  • 5+ years' experience with Power BI and semantic layer development.
  • Strong Power Query and DAX capability.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, DevOps, and deployment automation.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • SnowPro and Coalesce certification, or relevant Microsoft Azure/Fabric Data Engineer certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Contract: Initial 6-month engagement
