Middle / Senior Python Developer

We're building a new analytics and risk platform called ACQA (Advanced Cloud Quantitative Analytics). It's a cloud-native platform with a host of business-specific applications and services built on top of it. At its heart is Python, alongside other technologies including Java and Scala.

We're looking for talented Middle and Senior Python Developers with a strong software engineering mindset and, importantly, professional experience in banking or financial services.

Your Team

You'll be working in the ACQA Engines Crew, part of the Investment Banking Risk Technology stream.

The team consists of around 60 engineers across multiple global locations, organised into agile, autonomous pods of 5-10 people. We work directly with traders, risk managers and finance users to build platforms and tools supporting the management of Risk and P&L across the investment bank.

Your Expertise

You have:

• 4-8+ years of professional software development experience, depending on level.

• Strong commercial experience with Python - this is a must-have.

• Professional experience in banking, financial services, investment banking or fintech - mandatory.

• A strong software engineering background and mindset.

• Experience building reliable, scalable and well-tested production software.

• Good understanding of software design principles and design patterns.

• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

You'll have a few of:

• Deep experience developing Python at scale, with strong knowledge of the language and its ecosystem.

• Experience with Spark / PySpark and large, complex datasets.

• Experience with Java or Scala is a nice to have.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native systems.

• Knowledge of financial derivatives, pricing, risk and P&L.

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD and automated testing.

• Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

• Experience with web-based technologies would be useful, but is not essential.
