Senior Java Backend Developer

Location: Kraków, Poland

Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days/week

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join a leading technology team in Kraków.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on experience in backend application development, with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

This role offers the opportunity to work on enterprise-scale applications, designing and delivering robust, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices-based solutions.

  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and other development teams to deliver high-quality software.

  • Participate in system design discussions and contribute to technical architecture decisions.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices and coding standards.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior team members where required.

  • Contribute to CI/CD implementation and DevOps initiatives.

  • Work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.

  • Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.

  • Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and modern development tools.

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and software delivery best practices.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures.

  • Financial services or enterprise-scale project experience.
