The Highlights:

Reporting to the Director of Catholic Campus Ministry Vincentian Service, the Coordinator for Liturgy & Worship supports the Catholic liturgical life on campus and collaborates with the St. Vincent de Paul Parish in executing the weekly 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass during the academic year. Other duties include helping manage university-wide events such as the Baccalaureate Mass, special feast day Masses, and weekday Masses held in the two campus chapels. The Coordinator assists in the recruitment, training, and ongoing management, supervision, and formation of liturgical ministers and the student liturgy team. This position will collaborate with divisional colleagues and the parish to assist with other Catholic, ecumenical or interfaith prayer services in response to the needs of the community.

What You'll Do:

1. Provide comprehensive leadership in planning, organizing, and implementing all liturgical and musical aspects of university-wide events such as Baccalaureate Mass, special feast day Masses, weekday campus Masses held in the Louise de Marillac and Miraculous Medal Chapels, and additional communal prayer opportunities. Coordinate and plan campus events, including maintaining supplies of both campus chapels, schedule presiders for weekday Masses, produce or oversee completion of worship aids, lead music rehearsals, and provide proper training and formation of liturgical and music ministers. Lead weekly student Liturgy Team meetings to plan and prepare communal prayer opportunities, including the 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Taizé Prayer, communal reconciliation services, Stations of the Cross, etc. Respond to requests for special Catholic liturgies or rituals from DePaul constituents and collaborate with Mission and Ministry colleagues to plan ecumenical and interfaith prayer services as needed - 7 hours/week.

2. Assist the Campus Ministry staff with communal prayer needs for their programs (retreats, Praise and Worship, Día de los Muertos prayer service, etc.) as needed - 1-2 hours/week.

3. Assist in recruiting, supervising, and managing liturgical ministers, the student liturgy team, student employees, and professional musicians. Delegate and oversee the successful completion of tasks by all volunteers and employees. Responsibilities may include sacristan responsibilities for weekday Masses, completion of worship aids, scheduling and managing liturgical volunteers, and washing linen for weekday Masses, etc. - 1-2 hours/week.

4. Assist with monitoring the music and liturgy budget, and assist with other administrative tasks as needed - 1 hour/week.

Supervise the student liturgy team, liturgical volunteers, and student employees.

Help monitor the budget for all Catholic liturgical programs and events, including all necessary materials, Miraculous Medal Chapel fund and designated dollars from the CCM budget, determined annually in conjunction with the Director.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in liturgical life.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in helping coordinate liturgies at a parish or university setting, preferred.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with current Catholic liturgical teaching and documents.
  • Experience working in interreligious, interfaith and intercultural contexts strongly, preferred.
  • Experience working with a budget, preferred.
  • Practical knowledge and skills within current Catholic sacramental and liturgical life.
  • Supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple constituents: student leaders, student employees and parish volunteers.
  • Detail-oriented and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with a wide range of theological and pastoral positions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural, and multi-religious context.
  • Strong aptitude for collaboration and facilitating communication with parish staff and various levels of the university
  • Administration: students, faculty, staff.
  • Measurable leadership, administrative, organizational, and networking skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and video conferencing platforms.
  • Time management flexibility to accommodate campus climate, student schedules, and programming demands.
  • Requires regular Sunday afternoon/evening hours and the ability to work weekday evenings.
  • Some lifting/carrying can be expected on rare occasions, e.g., chapel furniture, liturgical equipment, etc., particularly in Campus Ministry sacred spaces during the change of liturgical seasons, though assistance can be secured as needed.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $20.93 to $20.93.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
