Derba Hotels and Resorts PLC is an emerging hospitality developer in Ethiopia. We are finalizing construction of the Sihin Hotel and Convention Center (SHCC), a premier 5-star hotel and state-of-the-art venue in Dessie. As we prepare for the operational launch of the Convention Center, we aim to set a new benchmark for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in the Amhara Regional State.The OpportunityRole Overview:
Position Summary: Secures the day-to-day technical execution, operation, and preventative maintenance of all live event production systems in the Convention Center. Responsible for high-end technical support for conferences, trade shows, galas, and hybrid events.What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities:
Collaboration & Reporting: Reports To Convention Center ManagerWhat We’re Looking ForExperience:
Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in full-service live event production within a convention center, hotel, or major event venue.Skills:
Technical Skills:
- Audio Systems: Expertise in managing multi-microphone environments, digital mixing consoles, frequency monitoring, and active EQ management to prevent feedback.
- Video & Streaming: Experience operating professional video switchers (e.g., Blackmagic ATEM, Analog Way), high-lumen laser projectors, media servers, and hybrid streaming platforms (Zoom, Webex, RTMP).
- Setup & Maintenance: Ability to lead physical installation/teardown of AV rigs according to CAD layouts and event riders; carry out preventative care, equipment troubleshooting, and basic bench repairs.
- Physical Capacity: Ability to maneuver equipment up to 23 kgs safely and comfortably handle continuous standing/walking across large convention floors.
Soft Skills:
- A proactive organizational mindset for facility upkeep,
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining technical constraints to non-technical clients,
- Physical ability to handle equipment up to 20 kgs., and the composure to troubleshoot real-time technical glitches under pressure.
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required; a Technical Diploma/Degree in Audio/Visual Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Additional Information
