Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.

Test Automation Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Test Automation Engineer to lead the internal development and optimization of the Online Remote Update Technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks in Java using clean code, modular design, and automation patterns (POM, Factory, Singleton, Strategy, Data-Driven).
- Create and maintain BDD scenarios with Cucumber/Gherkin, aligning behavior specs with automated tests.
- Build and execute TestNG test suites with annotations, grouping, parameterization, and parallel runs.
- Use Maven/Gradle for dependency management, multi-module setups, and build integrations.
- Automate UI testing with Selenium WebDriver using stable locators, synchronization, and reusable browser utilities.
- Perform API testing and automation using RestAssured/Postman, ensuring end-to-end backend coverage.
- Validate backend data using SQL queries for data integrity within automated workflows.
- Work with Git/GitHub for branching, pull requests, reviews, and repository governance.
- Implement and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, resolving flaky tests, environment issues, and dependency conflicts.
- Generate and maintain detailed automation reports using TestNG, Allure, Extent Reports, etc.
- Collaborate across Agile teams, analyzing user stories, creating automated test cases, ensuring coverage, traceability (Jira), and maintaining documentation in Confluence.
- Optimize automation performance, ensure multi-environment/browser coverage, enhance framework capabilities, and support DevOps/shift-left testing initiatives.
