Dolby Laboratories develops audio and imaging technologies licensed to cinemas, broadcasters and device makers worldwide. Its noise reduction, surround sound, Atmos and Vision formats are built into televisions, phones, cars and thousands of screens. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and headquartered on Market Street in San Francisco.

Join the leader in entertainment innovation and help us design the future. At Dolby, science meets art, and high tech means more than computer code. As a member of the Dolby team, you’ll see and hear the results of your work everywhere, from movie theaters to smartphones. We continue to revolutionize how people create, deliver, and enjoy entertainment worldwide. To do that, we need the absolute best talent. We’re big enough to give you all the resources you need, and small enough so you can make a real difference and earn recognition for your work. We offer a collegial culture and challenging projects.

The Marketing department creates passion and relevance for the "Dolby Difference" driving sell-in and sell-thru of Dolby enabled devices, services, content, and experiences across multiple constituents - partners, creators, consumers, and developers.

About the role

Reports to the Head of Global Social & the Head of PR

We’re hiring a contractor to build and run Dolby’s presence across LinkedIn, X, and Reddit: three platforms with three different rulebooks and one shared requirement, technical credibility. This is not a scheduling or copywriting role. It’s for someone who loves this stuff enough to actually learn it, someone who digs into how Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision work because they’re curious, not because a brief told them to, and who already knows how each of these platforms actually works before they post a single thing on Dolby’s behalf.

On LinkedIn, the mandate is bigger than posting more often: build a consistent, opinionated through-line for Dolby, an editorial identity people follow because it’s genuinely interesting, not because Dolby posted it. That means an executive visibility program built from the ground up and a company page that reads as an industry voice instead of an announcement feed.

On X, you’ll be the fast, technically fluent voice in the conversations Dolby’s industry is already having, translating real curiosity about the technology into posts that read like a person, not a press release.

On Reddit, you’re starting from zero: there is no Dolby identity there yet, and earning one, the right way, one thread at a time, is the job.

What you’ll own

LinkedIn: build a through-line, not a feed

  • Define a consistent, recognizable point of view for Dolby on LinkedIn, one voice and one through-line that builds week over week, so people can describe what Dolby’s LinkedIn is about in a sentence
  • Build and run an executive visibility program from the ground up, sourcing real insight directly from Dolby’s leaders and shaping it into content that reads as an informed technical perspective, not a corporate account with a headshot attached
  • Move the company page from an operational bulletin board and announcement feed into a destination practitioners actually choose to follow
  • Develop the recurring formats, franchises, and angles, not just individual posts, that make Dolby’s LinkedIn presence feel additive to the industry conversation instead of one more brand shouting into it
  • Turn product milestones, partnerships, and technical achievements into content built for a professional and practitioner audience, not a press release with a LinkedIn wrapper
  • Partner with corporate communications, investor relations, and employer brand so executive and company voice build the same through-line instead of competing for attention
  • CES and corporate events will be an important part of this position - building a frame of reference for the industry, Dolby employees and Execs.

X: a real-time, technically fluent presence

  • Own Dolby’s X presence as a living, real-time technical and cultural voice, not a repost channel, one that reads as genuinely into this technology rather than managing a queue
  • Translate real curiosity about audio and video technology into fast, sharp posts and replies people read as coming from someone who gets it
  • Monitor and participate in the conversations that matter to Dolby’s audience: audio and video technology, entertainment tech, developer and creator communities, and industry news
  • Build relationships with the accounts, journalists, and creators who shape those conversations
  • Exercise sound judgment on when and how to react to industry news or cultural moments, and when Dolby’s voice doesn’t belong in the conversation at all

Reddit: build the brand from zero, the right way

  • Build Dolby’s Reddit presence and identity from the ground up. There is no existing playbook here, and this role owns writing it
  • Learn each subreddit’s specific culture and rules before posting anything: lurk long enough to know what earns an upvote and what gets a brand laughed out of a thread
  • Earn credibility inside the communities where Dolby’s technology is already being discussed, audio, home theater, gaming, filmmaking, and developer forums, by answering questions and adding real context long before introducing any branded presence
  • Know the difference between adding value to a thread and hijacking one, and default to staying quiet when a post doesn’t call for a brand voice at all
  • Recommend and build the right entry model, whether that’s participating as a knowledgeable voice in existing subreddits, an eventual owned subreddit, or both, and make the case for it
  • Build relationships with relevant moderators and community members as the foundation for a durable, trusted presence

Across every platform

  • Actually learn Dolby’s technology, immersive and spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and how these systems work, well enough to hold a real conversation in technical communities, sit in on an engineering conversation and keep up, and turn that fluency into content instead of jargon
  • Use social listening and analytics tools to track share of voice, sentiment, and community health, and turn that into direction, not just a report
  • Log all content and activity through Dolby’s content intake process and Airtable as the system of record
  • Follow Dolby’s Official Accounts Policy and content governance framework so LinkedIn, X, and Reddit build one brand rather than three disconnected ones
  • Partner with the broader Global Social team so these channels reinforce, rather than duplicate, the work happening across Dolby’s consumer-facing channels

What success looks like

  • Dolby’s LinkedIn presence has one consistent, recognizable through-line, not a feed of disconnected updates, and people can describe what it’s about in a sentence
  • Dolby executives have a real, recognized voice on LinkedIn, measured by the quality of engagement and opportunities it generates, not just impressions
  • X is a place where Dolby shows up credibly and quickly in live conversation, not after the fact, in a voice that clearly comes from someone who knows and likes the technology
  • Dolby has an authentic, trusted presence in Reddit communities that predates any post asking people to buy or care about something
  • LinkedIn, X, and Reddit read as one brand, in a technically credible voice, tuned to how a professional or practitioner audience actually wants to be spoken to

Who you are

  • 6+ years in social media, community, or B2B content roles, with real hands-on content ownership of Reddit, LinkedIn and X, not just oversight of someone else’s calendar
  • Direct, credible experience building or growing a brand’s presence on Reddit specifically, including a real track record of participating in communities before ever pitching anything
  • Genuinely curious about audio and video technology: the kind of person who reads a spec sheet or an engineering blog post because they want to, and enjoys learning the ins and outs of how immersive media actually works
  • Able to turn that curiosity into a distinct point of view on LinkedIn, not a templated posting cadence, and knows what makes content additive versus just more noise
  • Sharp understanding of how each platform’s algorithm, culture, and unwritten rules actually work, beyond generic social media best practice, including a clear instinct for when a subreddit wants a brand in the conversation and when it very much doesn’t
  • Experience with executive ghostwriting, personal branding, or thought leadership programs at the manager level
  • Comfortable owning ambiguity: this role is building two of its three platforms, the LinkedIn reframe and Reddit from scratch, with no existing playbook to lean on
  • A fast, precise writer across registers: technical enough for developer audiences, credible enough for executives, human enough for Reddit
  • Experience with social listening, analytics, and reporting tools, and the judgment to turn data into a point of view rather than a dashboard

Nice to have

  • Experience in consumer technology, audio and video, entertainment technology, or a comparably technical B2B and B2C hybrid brand
  • Existing relationships or credibility within audio, home theater, gaming, or developer communities
  • Experience advising or managing senior executives directly
