About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team and help build scalable, high-performance systems that power our core products. You’ll be working on mission-critical infrastructure, distributed systems, and backend services that handle massive amounts of data and traffic.

What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services.
- Work with databases, caching layers, and messaging queues to ensure low-latency and high-throughput performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and observability for production systems.
- Improve the security, reliability, and performance of our backend infrastructure.
- Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and technical planning.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in backend development, building and maintaining large-scale systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Go, C++, Java, or Rust.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
- Experience with high-performance, low-latency systems and optimizing for scale.
- Solid understanding of databases (SQL & NoSQL), caching strategies, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Strong grasp of networking concepts, concurrency, and multithreading.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a passion for writing clean and efficient code, and a focus on delivering impactful results.
Bonus Points
- Experience working in a high-growth startup or a top-tier tech company.
- Prior work on real-time systems, financial tech, or large-scale data pipelines.
- Knowledge of Algo trading, HFT, or fixed income.
- Mathematics or Quant experience.

About the Founder
Brent Xu, the founder of DORA, previously built Umee, the most modular algorithmic lending protocol in Web3 that has generated $250M+ in lifetime loans as well as over $1Bn USD in cross chain transactions. Over his startup journey, he has raised $42M+ in venture funding from top investors, including Polychain, Coinbase, ConsenSys, IDEO CoLab Ventures, Jump Trading, GSR, and Brian Kelly Capital Management.
Before launching startups, Brent was among the first 20 employees at ConsenSys, where he played a key role in Ethereum’s early development. Prior to blockchain, he was a bond trader specializing in high-yield credit, distressed debt, and mortgage-backed securities, trading $50-$100 Bn in notional value annually on Wall Street.
