About you and this role

Are you passionate about materials science, sustainability, and innovation? We are looking for an ambitious Master's student (m/f) to join our Packaging & Specialty Plastics Technical Service & Development (TS&D) team at one of our key R&D locations in Tarragona, Spain or Wiesbaden, Germany.

As an intern, you will work alongside experienced scientists and engineers to develop next-generation materials and technologies that create value for our customers while contributing to a more sustainable future.

This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial research while developing technical, analytical, and communication skills. You will contribute to challenging R&D innovation projects focused on polyethylene, polyolefin elastomers, functional ethylene copolymers, recycled materials and compounded products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews and identify technology opportunities.
  • Develop hypotheses and design experimental plans.
  • Perform laboratory testing and characterize materials.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical teams.
  • Contribute to projects with direct business and sustainability impact.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a master's degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Available for 6- to 9- months internship starting during the first half of 2027 (exact timing flexible and to be discussed).
  • Good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of Spanish, German, or another European language is a plus.
  • Previous laboratory experience, including materials characterization, physical testing, or polymer processing/extrusion, is a plus.
