Downer's Energy & Utilities team is looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our Taupō-based Transmission team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Delivery Manager, you'll be responsible for planning, scheduling, and leading the delivery of scheduled and unscheduled transmission substation maintenance activities. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee field crews, coordinate resources, support fault response activities, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading transmission maintenance crews and field operations
- Planning and scheduling labour, equipment, and materials
- Coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Supporting fault response and outage work
- Managing work orders, documentation, and reporting requirements
- Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Promoting Downer's Zero Harm culture and safety standards
- Coaching and developing team members to achieve strong operational outcomes.
Ngā pūkenga matua | What We're Looking For
We're looking for a strong people leader with a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
You'll bring:
- Registered Electrician status with a current practising licence
- Relevant electrical trade qualification (Level 4 or equivalent)
- Current Full Class 1 driver's licence
- Experience leading electrical maintenance or transmission crews
- Knowledge of electrical industry regulations and safe work practices
- Experience working within transmission, generation, or high-voltage substation environments
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- A passion for mentoring and developing others.
The following would be advantageous but not essential:
- Transpower qualifications including Works Management, Permit Recipient or Substation Maintainer
- Previous transmission substation maintenance experience
- Transpower Technical Expert - Substation Maintainer certification.
