About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Jr. .NET Core Engineer to join our Applications team in Guadalajara, Mexico. This role is ideal for an early-career software engineer looking to gain hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale backend services and REST APIs using modern Microsoft technologies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of backend applications within an Agile/Scrum environment. Working alongside developers, QA engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and DevOps teams, the engineer will learn and apply industry best practices including Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, source control, CI/CD concepts, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted software development.

Essential Job Functions

• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot backend services and REST APIs using C# and .NET technologies.
• Deliver assigned development tasks, enhancements, and defect fixes through Jira or similar work management platforms.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs following established enterprise standards and best practices.
• Build efficient data-access solutions using LINQ and object-oriented programming principles.
• Follow Clean Architecture guidelines, ensuring clear separation of concerns between controllers, services, repositories, and business logic.
• Apply SOLID principles and software design patterns to produce maintainable, scalable, and testable code.
• Utilize .NET Dependency Injection and understand service lifetimes including Transient, Scoped, and Singleton.
• Test, debug, and validate API functionality using Postman and related testing tools.
• Analyze HTTP requests and responses using Fiddler or comparable debugging and proxy tools to investigate system issues.
• Support caching implementations using Redis and understand basic caching strategies.
• Execute basic relational database development and troubleshooting tasks utilizing SQL and technologies such as MySQL.
• Work with feature flags and feature toggles to support safe delivery and controlled feature releases.
• Utilize Git workflows including branching, commits, pull requests, merges, and conflict resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop a foundational understanding of Docker containers and containerized application environments.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams and understand CI/CD concepts, including GitHub Actions and deployment pipelines.
• Support cloud-based application initiatives and environments utilizing AWS services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support coding, debugging, documentation, code review, research, and routine engineering activities while validating generated outputs before implementation.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to investigate issues, identify root causes, and deliver maintainable solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow established development standards, security practices, and quality guidelines.

Candidate Profile

This position is suitable for a graduate or junior backend developer with foundational .NET knowledge who is seeking to build experience within enterprise software development environments. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, adaptable, and passionate about software engineering best practices.

The candidate is not expected to be a DevOps engineer, cloud specialist, or AI specialist. However, they should understand the overall software-development lifecycle, including implementing and testing changes locally, managing source code, participating in CI/CD processes, supporting deployment activities, and utilizing modern AI-assisted development tools responsibly within a professional engineering workflow

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of C# and .NET development.
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Basic experience developing or working with REST APIs.
• Understanding of controllers, services, and business logic separation.
• Familiarity with LINQ and data manipulation techniques.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and Dependency Injection concepts.
• Knowledge of Git and collaborative source-control workflows.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
• General understanding of backend application architecture.
• Professional English communication skills for collaboration in a global environment.

Other Qualifications

AI-Assisted Development Skills

• Familiarity with AI coding agents and AI-assisted development platforms such as OpenAI Codex, Claude, OpenCode, or comparable technologies.
• Ability to leverage agentic workflows for code exploration, implementation support, debugging, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and research.
• Basic prompt-engineering and context-management skills.
• Ability to provide clear objectives, requirements, constraints, and acceptance criteria to obtain reliable AI-generated outcomes.
• Familiarity with reusable agent instructions, standardized workflows, and development accelerators.
• Understanding of task decomposition and the effective use of specialized AI subagents when appropriate.
• Awareness of token efficiency, context-window management, and model-selection considerations.
• Ability to validate, test, and review AI-generated outputs while maintaining secure coding and data-handling practices.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with .NET 8 or .NET 10.
• Familiarity with Clean Architecture concepts.
• Understanding of Redis and caching strategies.
