MIDWEIGHT STUDIO HYBRID DESIGNER & ANIMATOR

The Role

We are looking for a Midweight Studio Hybrid Designer & Animator to create high-quality design work and bring it to life through animation for Edelman's clients. Working alongside designers, creative leads, client teams and producers, you will develop visual assets across digital, social, print, internal communications and brand-led outputs, then animate selected assets for motion, video and screen-based use.

As part of a global studio team, you will support projects across multiple markets. Adapting static and animated work for regional audiences while maintaining creative excellence and production quality across layouts, motion systems, file formats and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and animate high-quality assets for digital, social, print, screen and brand communications.
• Translate briefs into static layouts, style-frames, storyboards and motion-ready design systems.
• Create visual systems, campaign assets, social formats, infographics, icons, illustrations, templates and motion toolkits.
• Animate assets using keyframes, transitions, timing, pacing, type animation and simple compositing.
• Prepare animation timelines, production files, renders and exports that meet Edelman's Studio and delivery standards.
• Work with Creative Leads, Client Leads and Production teams from brief through design, animation, feedback and final delivery.
• Adapt design and motion assets across different markets, languages, aspect ratios and output formats.
• Manage multiple projects, version control, asset packaging, render and quality checks and final exports while meeting tight deadlines.
• This role would report into the Design Lead in South Africa.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in graphic design, studio design or motion design within an agency or creative studio environment.
• Strong design skills across layout, typography, composition, visual systems and brand consistency.
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with animation capability in After Effects and familiarity with Premiere Pro or similar production tools.
• Ability to take a static design from concept and layout through to animated output.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to follow briefs, production schedules and feedback rounds.
• Understanding of production requirements including storyboards, style-frames, animatics, codecs, frame rates, aspect ratios, safe areas, renders, file packaging and final delivery specs.
• Experience with AI-assisted design or animation tools, plus knowledge of Figma, is an advantage.
