About us
EhudAI is an AI creative studio for filmmakers, marketers and creators. People use it to generate images, video and whole cinematic sequences, with tools like Auteur, our cinematic storytelling tool, and AI Studio, an assistant that plans and produces creative work alongside you. We're a small team shipping fast for paying customers every day.
The role
This is a senior, high-ownership role. You'll take responsibility for the backend that everything else runs on: the services, data and infrastructure behind our creative tools. Your job is to make the platform dependable, secure and ready to scale, so the rest of the team can keep building new creative tools on top of it. Location: Bole, Addis Ababa. Please know that this is NOT A REMOTE ROLE.
What you'll do
Own the design and quality of our backend services and APIs
Build and maintain billing and usage systems where accuracy matters
Make long-running background work reliable and observable
Improve how we test, release and monitor our software
Uphold strong security and data-protection practices across the platform
Review code, write things down, and mentor a junior engineer
You'll likely have
5+ years building production backend systems, with strong Python
Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred): schema design, migrations and concurrency
Experience with asynchronous job processing and background workers
Experience with payments, subscriptions or other code that handles money
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD
Good instincts for monitoring, logging and alerting
Clear written communication, and you're comfortable owning outcomes with little oversight
Nice to have
Experience with generative AI APIs (image, video or language models)
Familiarity with local payment methods in Ethiopia
Some React/TypeScript, enough to follow a problem across the stack
