Job Description :
Responsibilities :
- Design, build, test, and ship features end to end, writing the test before the code.
- Write and maintain Playwright integration tests for the features you build and keep the deployment pipeline green.
- Build and evolve REST APIs, data models, and AWS Lambda or Kubernetes microservices aligned with engineering design patterns.
- Instrument your code with structured metrics, monitor production telemetry via Datadog and CloudWatch, and participate in production troubleshooting and on-call rotation.
- Use Claude Code daily and rigorously review AI-generated code to the exact same standards of quality and maintainability as human-authored code.
- Engage proactively in Agile ceremonies with product, design, and QA counterparts, escalating risks early and fulfilling commitments.
- Drive continuous technical improvement by proposing enhancements to architecture, tooling, and developer workflows.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of professional software development experience in TypeScript and Node.js or Python.
- 2 years of hands-on experience testing, maintaining, or launching production software.
- Experience working effectively within distributed teams across diverse geographies and time zones.
- Backend language & craft : Proficient in clean, typed backend code using TypeScript with Node.js (NestJS or Fastify) or Python (FastAPI or Django) with solid asynchronous programming experience and applied data structure foundations.
- React & frontend : Experience building typed React applications with hooks, TanStack Query for server-state caching, React Testing Library, responsive HTML/CSS, design systems, and Figma specifications.
- APIs & data formats : Skilled in designing RESTful HTTP APIs with OpenAPI specs, pagination, robust error handling, schema evolution with Protocol Buffers, and safe third-party integrations with retries and circuit breakers.
- Data persistence : Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL (SQL queries, indexing, query plans, and migrations with Prisma, TypeORM, or SQLAlchemy) alongside production use of DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Asynchronous systems : Experience handling background job queues and resilient worker patterns with BullMQ or Celery.
- Cloud & platform : Hands-on production experience with AWS or GCP, including serverless execution with AWS Lambda, Docker containerisation, and editing Kubernetes manifests in automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Testing & quality : Committed practice of test-driven development (TDD) using Jest, Vitest, or pytest, coupled with end-to-end integration testing in Playwright.
- Observability & performance : Practical experience instrumenting code with structured logging and metrics in Datadog/CloudWatch, debugging with language-level profilers, and optimising p95/p99 latencies.
- Security & identity : Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, boundary input validation, token-based authentication/authorisation (OAuth/JWT), secret managers, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Engineering practices : Advanced Git fluency (rebasing, bisecting), trunk-based development with GitHub Flow, short-lived feature branches, and constructive peer code reviews.
- AI-first engineering & LLMs : Daily use of Claude Code, familiarity with LLM mechanics (tokens, context limits, prompting, structured outputs, temperature), and integration of OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs without leaking secrets.
- Communication & ownership : Proactive communicator who clarifies technical specifications upfront, demonstrates strong problem-solving initiative, and actively seeks continuous learning.
