The Sales Development Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of NI talent as we expand our Sales Development program to new capabilities. In this role, your coaching will help shape the trajectory of our new college graduates and experienced Sales Development Engineers (SDEs) as you instill sales and technical best practices. Your investment will help shape a culture of high-performing, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial engineers and create an environment where a diverse set of high achievers can thrive.

We’re looking for leaders who are known not only for hitting their own goals, but also for improving the outcomes of everyone around them. Applicants will demonstrate resilience and a passion to excel. The successful candidate will inspire engineers and build the team skills needed to exceed goals and maintain engagement across all phases of the program.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Coach and mentor the SDE team through an ongoing coaching cadence designed to refine skills and achieve targets.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, encouraging team members to share best practices and continue growing professionally.

  • Enable connections to the larger NI organization, including Sales, Applications Engineering, Customer Operations, Technical Support, Field Marketing, and Product Marketing.

  • Support the creation and implementation of individual business plans aligned with regional account plans.

  • Facilitate technical growth across products, solutions, and business units.

  • Maintain a productive partnership with the Marketing organization focused on overall lead performance and improvements.

  • Identify and create process improvements that accelerate business creation, knowledge development, SDE engagement, and other team outcomes.

  • Build trust with employees and serve as a career guide as they prepare for their next role after SDE.

  • Build university relationships, identify new SDEs, and hire the next generation of NI talent.

Who You Are:

You have a track record of achieving sales quotas through intentional business planning and execution. You are known for coaching others and improving the performance of the people around you. You seek continuous improvement in customer outreach and enjoy developing new prospecting strategies. You build customer-focused teams and prioritize customer interactions and outcomes. You regularly seek and share feedback that provides a competitive edge, and you celebrate important customer wins. You consistently recruit and retain top talent. You enjoy diving into the technical details of customer problems to help ensure the right solution is provided. You can manage input from multiple stakeholders and help groups reach collaborative, successful outcomes.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Five or more years of successful sales or sales management experience at National Instruments or a comparable test and measurement company, with demonstrated impact in Field Sales, Inside Sales, or Business Development.

  • A bachelor’s degree with a major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science, and/or relevant technical experience.

  • The ability to work in Austin, Texas.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Previous experience working with new college graduates.
