Endress+Hauser is a family-owned Swiss supplier of measurement instruments, services and automation solutions for process and laboratory applications, headquartered in Reinach near Basel. Founded in 1953 by Georg H Endress and Ludwig Hauser, the group reports net sales of more than 4 billion euros and a workforce of nearly 18,000, with its own sales companies in over 50 countries and production sites on four continents. Its board lists inside sales and field service engineers, proposal and project engineers, SAP and software roles, and German apprenticeships and dual-study programmes in mechatronics and IT.

At Endress+Hauser, progress happens by working together. As the global leader in measurement instrumentation, our over 18,000 employees shape the future in the field of process automation. Whether developing and realizing new technology as a team, collaborating to build instrumentation, or strengthening vital relationships with countless global industries, we work to create trusted relationships that help everyone thrive. As a family-owned company, we look beyond short-term moves and work to create a vision that is forward-thinking for our people, our clients, and the world at large.

We are looking for a Software Engineer - Embedded Systems & System Integration to develop software solutions connecting measurement devices, embedded systems and modern Linux-based computing environments. You will work across software and hardware boundaries to help turn measurement technology into integrated and reliable systems.

What is the role about?

Do you enjoy developing software that interacts directly with physical devices? Are Linux, containers and the integration of embedded systems part of your engineering world? And would you like to collaborate with electronics, optics and software specialists on complete measurement solutions rather than isolated applications?

In this role, you will develop and integrate software around our measurement systems, connecting embedded technology with containerized applications running on Linux hosts. You will join an interdisciplinary development environment in Germany, working closely with colleagues from Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis in the United States on the development and advancement of optical measurement technologies.

Which tasks will you perform?

You will:

  • Design, implement and test software applications for measurement systems
  • Integrate embedded systems and device-level functionality into containerized applications running on Linux hosts
  • Develop software across technologies including .NET/C#, Python, TypeScript and C/C++, depending on the application and integration layer
  • Support the integration and connectivity of hardware and software components within complete measurement systems
  • Contribute to robust and secure software architectures for industrial applications, including cybersecurity-related considerations
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues from electronics, mechanics, optics and signal processing/software engineering

What do we expect from you?

You:

  • Have a strong background in software engineering, computer science or a comparable technical discipline
  • Bring solid programming experience and are comfortable working across several technologies, particularly .NET/C#, Python, TypeScript and/or C/C++
  • Have experience with Linux environments and container technologies such as Docker
  • Understand software integration with embedded systems or hardware-oriented products and enjoy working close to physical devices
  • Ideally bring knowledge of cybersecurity for industrial applications
  • Communicate fluently in English and enjoy collaborating in interdisciplinary and international engineering teams. German language skills are an advantage

What can you expect from us?

  • We are a family-owned, highly committed company with a sustainable, long-term vision
  • You will develop software that connects directly with measurement technology and physical devices, rather than working only on standalone applications
  • You will work across traditional boundaries between embedded systems, Linux software, electronics and measurement technology
  • You will collaborate internationally, including with engineering colleagues from Optical Analysis in the United States
  • We promote lifelong learning through versatile training, further education opportunities and internal knowledge transfer
  • You will have the opportunity to contribute to the further development and integration of measurement platforms and technologies

How do you apply?

To apply, we kindly ask you to upload your documents on our career page. Applications sent to us by email unfortunately cannot be considered due to data privacy considerations.

* Agencies, HR service providers, or similar entities are kindly requested to refrain from unsolicited submission of profiles and inquiries regarding potential collaboration. Currently, we do not engage with external service providers for this role. Any unsolicited applications of this kind will be disregarded and deleted without further consideration.
