Senior SAP ABAP Developer
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior SAP ABAP Developer with 5+ years of hands-on SAP development experience in a complex enterprise environment.
This role will begin remote, but candidates must be local to the San Diego area and able to work onsite if the engagement transitions to a fully onsite model.
An onsite client interview in San Diego will be required as part of the selection process.
The ideal candidate will bring strong core ABAP development experience along with hands-on SAP IS-U / Utilities experience. Experience with CCS and related utility applications is highly valued.
Candidates are not expected to have experience with every technology or SAP module in the environment.
Location & Interview Requirements

Core Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, enhance, and support SAP applications
- Perform technical analysis, design, programming, and troubleshooting
- Support SAP Functional teams with incident analysis and resolution
- Develop and maintain custom SAP solutions
- Support interfaces and system integrations
- Create technical specifications and unit test documentation
- Perform developer testing and support functional testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects
- Optimize custom SAP solutions for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate with functional, integration, and business teams
Required Experience
Candidates should have strong hands-on experience with:
- 5+ years of SAP ABAP development experience
- SAP IS-U / Utilities
- ABAP and ABAP Objects
- SAP ECC on HANA
- RICEFW development
- BAdIs, BAPIs, IDocs, user exits, and enhancements
- SAP interfaces and integrations
- Technical troubleshooting and defect resolution
- Unit testing and technical documentation
- Working closely with SAP Functional and Integration teams
Strongly Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- SAP CCS
- SAP CRM
- Device Management
- Plant Maintenance / Enterprise Asset Management
- OpenText ExStream
- BlueWorx
- Neptune Software
- ESRI / ArcGIS integration
- HCM or EHS
- Finance or Logistics modules
Modern SAP Development - Nice to Have

Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional SAP ABAP development experience
- Strong hands-on SAP IS-U / Utilities experience
- Strong ABAP/ABAP-OO background
- Experience supporting complex enterprise SAP environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently analyze requirements and develop technical solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be local to the San Diego area and available for an onsite client interview
Candidates do not need to have experience with every technology listed. We are primarily looking for a strong senior ABAP developer with solid SAP Utilities/IS-U experience and the ability to work effectively in a complex enterprise environment.
