Equinox is an American luxury fitness and lifestyle enterprise operating high-end health clubs, digital wellness platforms, and hospitality experiences. Headquartered in New York City, United States, the company manages dozens of upscale facilities across major metropolitan areas in North America and Europe. Founded in 1991, it integrates personalized training, group instruction, spa services, and wellness brands to deliver a premium health management ecosystem.

WHO WE ARE

Equinox is a category of one, setting the global standard for luxury health, wellness, and hospitality. Our spaces are intentionally elevated, our standards uncompromising, and our expectations high. We attract people who take pride in excellence, care deeply about quality, and want to be part of something that feels different the moment you walk through the door.

We are builders, operators, and innovators who believe great environments and meaningful human connection change lives. Diversity, belonging, and ownership aren’t slogans here, they’re how we work. At Equinox, colleagues don’t just support the business; they shape the future of wellness. Because for us, it’s not fitness. It’s life.

WHAT WE DO

We create premium, immersive experiences where performance, hospitality, design, and human connection converge-and every detail matters. This is not a traditional fitness environment. It is a place where high standards, accountability, and pride in craft define the work.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial mindset, we trust our people with real responsibility and real impact. Growth is earned through action, learning is hands-on, and careers are built by those who want to operate at the highest level. At Equinox, we don’t just offer opportunities-we offer long-term pathways for people who want to do meaningful work in an environment that expects more and delivers more.

Equinox is looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to help build our luxury fitness clubs. You will work across the entire project lifecycle, from early design and bidding through construction, and final handoff.

This is not just an administrative role. You will work alongside our Project Managers and Director of Construction, while actively coordinating with architects, engineers, general contractors, consultants, vendors, landlords, and internal teams to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and on budget. You will handle core project controls (budgets, schedules, RFIs, and submittals) while gaining the hands-on field experience needed to transition into running your own projects.

What You’ll Do Daily

  • Keep Projects on Schedule: Track design deliverables, manage active logs for RFIs and submittals, and make sure design clarifications get answered before they delay the field.
  • Manage the Paperwork & Finances: Maintain project budgets, cost reports, and schedules. Track contracts, change orders, and invoices, and review monthly contractor payment applications.
  • Support Preconstruction: Assist with contractor bidding, bid leveling, scope reviews, and tracking long-lead materials.
  • On-Site Quality Control: Travel to active construction sites to monitor progress. You will pay close attention to our high-end finishes, including custom millwork, specialty lighting, luxury tiling, and athletic flooring.
  • Drive Closeout & Handoff: Manage punch lists, equipment commissioning, and closeout packages to ensure a seamless handoff to our Operations and Facilities teams.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in commercial construction, working for a general contractor, owner's representative, architecture firm, or engineering firm.
  • Strong technical fundamentals: You can confidently read architectural/structural/MEP drawings and understand basic commercial construction sequencing.
  • Proven organizational skills: You can manage multiple spreadsheets, logs, and competing priorities without letting details slip through the cracks.
  • Travel flexibility: Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally to oversee active job sites.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in hospitality, luxury retail, or high-end commercial interiors.
  • Proficiency with industry software like Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project, along with advanced Excel skills.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or LEED credentials.

Growth & Culture

We don't expect you to be an assistant forever. This role is deliberately structured as a stepping stone. As you show capability, you will take independent ownership of larger project scopes.

At Equinox, our clubs are the core of our brand. You’ll be building highly sophisticated, design-driven spaces alongside a seasoned team of real estate, architecture, and construction professionals.

Pay Transparency: $85K - $110K

AS A MEMBER OF THE EQUINOX TEAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:

  • We offer competitive salary, benefits, and industry leading commission opportunities for club employees
  • Complimentary Club membership
  • Perks and incentives with our products and services including Personal Training, Pilates, Spa and Shop
