Role Overview
The Warehouse and Stock Controller is responsible for managing all stock movement across the company's two warehouses, from goods receiving through to dispatch. The role ensures accurate, real-time stock records, tracks product transformation during manufacturing, and puts in place stronger stock control structures to support reliable stock availability across the business. The role is based mainly in the factory.
Key Responsibilities
● Receive all stock coming into the factory and load it onto the system.
● Allocate received stock to the correct warehouse (Warehouse A or Warehouse B).
● Check that stock quantities received match the corresponding purchase order, and flag any discrepancies.
● Monitor the manufacturing process where fish is broken down from one product into another (fresh or frozen).
● Ensure stickers are correctly allocated to newly created products.
● Scan new product stickers into stock to keep system records accurate.
● Verify that stock leaving the warehouse matches what has been ordered/invoiced.
● Process the corresponding removal of stock from the system for all outgoing goods.
● Conduct monthly stock takes across both warehouses.
● Report on stock variances and process the necessary adjustments.
● Implement structures and processes to improve overall stock control.
● Support better planning of stock ordering and stock availability.
● Monitor stock levels on an ongoing basis to prevent stock-outs.
● Maintain accurate, up-to-date stock records on the system at all times.
● Ensure warehouse areas are organised, clean, and compliant with food safety standards.
● Liaise with relevant departments regarding stock queries, shortages, or discrepancies.
● Work closely with the sales team on stock availability to support sales planning and customer commitments.
● Assist with general warehouse management duties as required.
● Help upskill current staff so they are able to assist with stock control duties, including covering periods of leave.
● Support the business's expansion plans, including the potential future addition of a Warehouse C on the same premises.
Working Hours
This is a 5.5-day working week, structured as either of the following (to be confirmed with the successful candidate): ● Monday to Friday, plus a half-day on Saturday, or ● Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Friday full days, a half-day on Wednesday, plus a full day on Saturday.
Standard hours are 08:00 - 17:00, though the role is not strictly bound to these hours. Flexibility is required: the incumbent may need to stay later to receive stock when deliveries are scheduled late, or come in earlier to ensure the system is updated before the sales team starts work.
