Group Financial Controller

What is important for this role: Group-consolidation and multi-jurisdiction experience

• The role has two centres of gravity: 
  • The first is where the candidate acts as day-to-day finance lead, supports the quarterly consolidated board pack, statutory accounts and governance cycle alongside the Group CFO and external advisers in Switzerland, France and Italy, and runs the audit programme in detail.
  • The second is control and management of the Group audit programme across every entity and jurisdiction, supported by a live audit dashboard that tracks status, deliverables and findings across the Group.

• A relevant accounting or finance degree (BCom Accounting or equivalent), supported by a professional designation such as Chartered BAP (CIBA), CIMA / CGMA, ACCA, SAIPA or CA(SA). No single designation is required — demonstrated group controllership capability carries more weight than the route taken to it.
• At least 8 years' post-qualification experience in financial management, of which a minimum of 3 years in a group or multi-entity controllership role.
• Demonstrated ownership of a full group consolidation, including intercompany eliminations across multiple tiers.
• Practical experience of multi-currency reporting and cross-border transactions.
• Full-function tax and statutory compliance experience, ideally across more than one jurisdiction.
• End-to-end audit management experience as the primary client-side contact, across more than one entity and preferably more than one jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain reporting dashboards and tracking tools — not simply to consume them.
• Proven ability to deliver through people they do not line-manage — holding entity finance teams to a group calendar and standard by influence and credibility.
• Advanced Excel and strong working knowledge of cloud accounting and consolidation platforms (Xero, Joiin,Sage or comparable).
