Credit Risk Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client, a rapidly growing and highly innovative financial services business operating across multiple African markets, is seeking an experienced Credit Risk Manager to join their team.

This opportunity is ideal for a commercially minded credit risk professional who enjoys balancing risk and profitability while driving business growth through data-driven decision making. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping credit strategy, optimising portfolio performance, and guiding lending decisions across multiple regions.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain and enhance credit policies and lending strategies. Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities to improve credit outcomes. Drive risk-based pricing, credit limit and cut-off strategy reviews. Design and evaluate credit experiments to optimise profitability and customer performance. Analyse repayment behaviour, portfolio trends and emerging credit risks. Partner with stakeholders across Data, Technology, Finance and Operations teams to implement credit strategy improvements. Translate analytical findings into practical business recommendations. Review and monitor provisioning methodologies and portfolio loss performance. Present recommendations and portfolio insights to senior stakeholders. Ensure responsible lending practices while supporting business growth objectives. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or another relevant quantitative discipline. Experience 5+ years' experience within Credit Risk. Proven experience in consumer lending or retail credit environments. Strong exposure to credit strategy, credit policy and portfolio management. Experience managing: Credit limits Scorecard cut-offs Risk-based pricing Credit decisioning strategies Portfolio performance monitoring Previous experience conducting credit strategy testing and experimentation would be advantageous. Technical Skills Advanced SQL and\/or Python skills. Strong data analysis and modelling capabilities. Experience working with large datasets. Solid understanding of: Credit risk management Portfolio analytics Credit scoring methodologies Risk-based pricing Profitability optimisation The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong commercial acumen.
