Compensation Details:
- Business Analyst 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement three in-office days per week starting in September 2026.
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or Halifax.

Team Overview:
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
As part of EDC’s Digital Platform Delivery & Architecture (DPDA) group, the Financing & Investments team delivers and supports technology solutions that enable EDC’s financing and investment objectives. The team works across critical business domains, including financial systems, investment reporting, and corporate accounting, ensuring platforms are secure, effective, and aligned with evolving business needs.
The Senior Business Analyst serves as the primary link between business stakeholders and technical teams, collaborating with internal partners, vendors, and cross-functional delivery teams to translate business needs into clear requirements and actionable solutions. Working in an Agile environment, the incumbent is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, validating, and communicating requirements while supporting product refinement and successful solution delivery.
As a senior member of the team, the incumbent independently assesses business processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and leverages appropriate business analysis tools, techniques, and models to drive operational efficiency and reporting accuracy. The role requires strong analytical, communication, relationship management, and digital capabilities, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to change, learn new technologies, and contribute to the ongoing maturity of the team’s Agile practices. Through close collaboration with product owners, developers, testers, and business stakeholders, the Senior Business Analyst helps deliver high-impact solutions that support EDC’s financing and investment mandate.
What you will be doing:
Solution Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead business analysis efforts for an investments management platform, including troubleshooting, reporting, and team alignment.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and iterative product refinement.
- Facilitate alignment meetings and support requirement discovery, development, and testing.
- Understand business needs and capture them clearly and in an easily consumed format
Strategic Planning & OKR Development
- Contribute to the development of team-level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), aligning initiatives with broader organizational goals.
System Upgrades & Vendor Coordination
- Support upgrade testing activities and coordinate issue resolution with vendors.
- Collaborate with business lines to define and execute effective test strategies.
Business Requirements & Solution Design
- Define and validate business requirements for various software enhancements to meet evolving business needs.
- Guide development teams to ensure solutions meet business expectations and compliance standards.
- Deliver clear, complete and usable documentation, that is right sized for the circumstances
Financial Systems & Reporting Enhancements
- Troubleshoot financial transaction issues and coordinate enhancements for improved reporting.
- Present issues to vendors and support the Product Owner in managing cross-functional expectations.
Investment Data & Corporate Reporting
- Provide expert analysis on investment data inconsistencies and reporting challenges.
- Collaborate with IT architects to support strategic planning and roadmap development.
- Help business units visualize root causes and recommend actionable solutions.
Agile Practices & Continuous Improvement
- Adapt and refine Agile and business analysis practices to align with organizational culture and governance.
- Promote best practices in requirement gathering, stakeholder engagement, and solution delivery.
Relationship & Change Management
- Work collaboratively with the Financing & Investments team, its vendor partners, and internal stakeholders, towards a common goal .
- Build, sustain, and leverage positive relationships with persons within and outside their areas of immediate responsibility as well as external contacts; anticipating, assessing, and meeting their needs in a mutually beneficial manner, while managing expectations .
- Anticipate, prepare, and respond effectively to change; creating an open, receptive work environment.
- Support business subject matters experts through user acceptance testing (UAT) and operational readiness activities.
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of Business Analysis experience, including 5+ years writing user stories and managing requirements in Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery, technical implementations, project lifecycles, and large-scale program delivery.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into functional requirements.
- Experience working with financial systems, lending/underwriting applications, and modernizing legacy platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial services, including banking, financing, investments, risk management, and corporate reporting processes.
- Proven ability to work independently in complex environments with limited documentation, including facilitating workshops and creating visual artifacts (e.g., Miro, Mural).
What will make you stand out:
- Knowledge of Power BI and financial platforms such as eFront is an asset.
- Business Analysis certifications (CBAP, Agile Analysis, Master's Certificate in Business Analysis) is an asset.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is nice to have.
