FanDuel is looking for a Technology Operations Senior Director to lead the globally distributed Technology Operations organization, overseeing support across our products including Sportsbook, Predicts, Casino, Fantasy, Retail, Racing and other FanDuel offerings. 

This leadership role will drive the vision and strategy to evolve Technology Operations through an AI-first approach, optimizing across the full operational lifecycle-from proactive service reliability and operational readiness, to change and release management, incident response and detection, and continuous service improvement. You will champion a best-in-class operational model that combines strategic foresight with rapid response capabilities, leveraging AI-driven insights and automation to enhance reliability, reduce friction in deployment processes, and enable predictive issue resolution as first-line stewards of platform stability. 

This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills to ensure Technology Operations is robust, scalable, future-focused, and aligned to company objectives-positioning FanDuel for operational excellence through emerging technologies and organizational maturity. 

Collaboration and communication are fundamental to this role, requiring strong partnerships across Commercial, Product and Engineering Leadership teams to champion Operational Excellence. You will serve as a critical bridge between technology operations and business strategy, providing operational insights that inform product roadmaps, commercial initiatives, and engineering priorities. Through rigorous cross-functional initiatives, you will collaborate on proactive incident management, evolution of operational processes, and post-incident reviews-ensuring that reliability, scalability, and customer experience are central to all strategic decisions. You will contribute operational perspective and requirements to shape how the organization builds, deploys, and maintains its platforms.

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for theTechnologyOperations organization aligned to overall business objectives  
  • Lead, guide and mentor a team of supporting engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvements 
  • EvolveTechnologyOperations functions, considering the demands and feedback of the business needs to provide a best-in class support function  
  • Define key OKRs andsuccessmetrics including operational trend analysis (reduced MTTR, auto-resolution rates, team efficiency gains)   
  • Champion self-service diagnostic and remediation tools that empower teams to resolve common issues autonomously, freeing engineering resources for complex problems
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled auto-healingand triage capabilities that detect and automatically resolve predictable operational issues before they impact customers, improving reliability and reducing manual intervention 
  • Ensure cost-effective use of technology resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness whist maintaining a high level of service 
  • Build organizational readiness and change management strategiesincorporating AI-augmented workflows and AI-driven initiatives ensuring adoption and realizing full operational value  
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to TechnologyOperations 
  • Contribute to Disaster Recovery and BCP strategies incorporatingTechnologyOperations duties  
  • Deputize for theSVP of Technology including executive forums and senior stakeholder management for major incidents and tech transformation

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability with the ability collaborate with senior leadership across the organization 
  • Has a customer first mentality with knowledge of sports and/or experiences working in regulated industries is a plus 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields 
  • Relevant industry certifications such as ITIL, CIM, or PMP, desirable 
  • Strong understanding of Cloud servicesand observability platforms (e.g. AWS) 
  • Good balance of business acumen and understanding of engineering disciplines for overall business success 
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, if necessary, as well as being on call for key events and major incidents

The applicable salary range for this position is $143,000 - $179,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
