About Farsight Vision
Farsight Vision develops AI-powered geospatial intelligence solutions for defence and security operations. The platform transforms raw aerial and sensor data into real-time 3D environments, actionable analytics, and AI-assisted operational scenarios, enabling enhanced situational awareness, mission planning, and faster decision-making for both human operators and autonomous systems. We operate at the intersection of geospatial data, computer vision, and defense operations - and if that interests you, read on.
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to own the operator-facing side of our robotics direction. That means the maps, 3D scenes, and live data views through which people plan missions and understand what autonomous systems see. This is not a role for someone who waits for a pixel-perfect spec and a fully scoped ticket. You will take a raw operational need, often straight from field feedback, and turn it into a fast, reliable interface that people depend on under pressure.
Our robotics direction centers on an autonomous ground vehicle built on ROS 2, with LiDAR-based localization and obstacle detection already running. A working operator interface prototype exists today; the next step is turning it into a production-grade React application. You will lead that effort and define its architecture.
Responsibilities
Lead the migration of the existing operator prototype to a production React + TypeScript application
Build and own real-time 3D and map views of the robot and its environment: sensor data, position, obstacles, and terrain. Keep them fast on real field hardware, not just on a developer laptop
Design how live telemetry and sensor data reach the UI (streaming, buffering, state sync) so operators see an accurate picture with minimal latency
Turn complex geospatial and analytical data into visualizations that support a decision in seconds - layers, overlays, time-series, alerts. You will work directly with product, backend, and robotics engineers
Shape the web app architecture for the robot remote control station: rendering strategy, state management, component structure, and the performance budget it has to hold
Prototype quickly, validate with users, and then harden or drop features based on what actually works in the field
Fix workflows and CI/CD wherever they slow the team down
Requirements
5+ years of commercial frontend development, including at least 2 years building map-based or data-heavy interactive applications in production
Strong TypeScript and modern React. You can explain the architectural trade-offs you made on a large application, not just list the libraries you used
Hands-on production experience with Three.js or a comparable WebGL stack, including rendering large volumes of live data at a stable frame rate
Solid understanding of 3D and geographic coordinate systems
A proven record of rendering performance optimization: large datasets, frame rate, memory, Web Workers, and profiling
Experience with real-time data in the browser (WebSockets, SSE, or WebRTC) and with state management at scale (Zustand, Redux, or similar)
Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity standards applied to web stack, experience with authentication / authorization protocols
Ability to travel across Ukraine; valid military registration documents that allow you to travel freely
Upper-Intermediate+ English
Nice to have
Experience with ROS / ROS 2, robotics or drone operator interfaces
GIS and web mapping experience (MapLibre, Leaflet, CesiumJS, deck.gl), tiles and large spatial datasets
Experience in defense, security, GIS, or other mission-critical products
Working knowledge of Python, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, AWS, and Docker - enough to unblock yourself across the stack
Security Eligibility
Our products are actively used by the Armed Forces in live operations. As an Estonian-Ukrainian defence technology company handling sensitive operational data, we have a responsibility - legal, ethical, and practical - to ensure the integrity of everyone on our team.
All candidates must be able to confirm the following:
Neither you nor your close relatives (parents, spouse, siblings, children) reside in Russia, Belarus, or temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
You have no regular personal, financial, business, or professional contact with individuals in those territories.
You consent to a deeper security verification if the process advances to later stages.
If any of the above criteria are not met, please do not proceed with your application.
Why Farsight Vision
We are a startup operating under real-world conditions - our product is in active deployment, and the pace reflects that. What you build will be used by people making operational decisions for the Defense Forces, and their feedback will reach you directly, not through layers of tickets. If you'd rather solve the problem than wait for perfect requirements, and you want to keep learning at the edge of geospatial, 3D, and autonomy, you'll fit in. If process matters more to you than results, this isn't the place.
Flexible working hours. Paid vacation and sick leave. Direct access to founders and leadership.
Application Process
