We are looking for a proactive and practical Manufacturing Engineering Technician (NPI) to join our Manufacturing Engineering team at NETPark, Sedgefield.

Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Product Engineering and Production teams, you will help ensure new products can be manufactured efficiently, consistently and to the required quality standards.

The role will involve supporting engineering builds, production trials, process development, equipment preparation and troubleshooting, helping bridge the gap between product development and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical support for the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering builds and production trials.
  • Assist with developing, improving and validating manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures and work instructions.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues, support root cause analysis and help implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, yield and process repeatability.
  • Support engineering changes and ensure manufacturing documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain colleagues.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
  • Practical engineering aptitude and an interest in manufacturing processes and product development.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of quality standards and the importance of controlled manufacturing processes.
  • Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage priorities and work independently when required.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or transferring products from engineering into production.
  • Experience in electronics, RF, microwave, semiconductor or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, assembly techniques and process optimisation.
  • Experience with engineering builds, production trials, process validation or continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing documentation and engineering change control.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures and jigs.
  • Familiarity with MRP, ERP or PLM systems.

Qualifications

An HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent relevant engineering qualifications and practical experience, would be advantageous.

We also welcome applications from candidates who have developed relevant technical knowledge and skills through practical manufacturing experience.

A full and comprehensive job description is available on request.
