Filtronic is a radio frequency expert working with clients to solve their complex RF, microwave and mmWave problems.

Relocation assistance is available, if required.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship for this particular role. The successful candidate will also need to satisfy UK Security Clearance requirements.

Filtronic is growing rapidly. With record revenues, major Space and Defence programme wins, and cutting-edge RF and microwave technology at the heart of next-generation satellite communications, there's never been a better time to join us.

We're looking for a Product Assurance Payload Lead to play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and compliance of our space payload products throughout the entire product lifecycle. Working alongside engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and programme teams, you'll help deliver world-class hardware for some of the most demanding space applications.

If you're passionate about quality, thrive in technically challenging environments, and want to help shape the future of high-speed RF communications, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for ensuring robust product assurance activities are embedded across payload programmes from concept through to customer delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading product assurance activities across payload and space hardware programmes.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory and industry standards, including ECSS, ESA and NASA requirements.
  • Working closely with engineering, manufacturing and test teams to embed quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Supporting the selection and qualification of space-grade electronic components and materials.
  • Reviewing and approving quality plans, manufacturing documentation, non-conformance reports and release documentation.
  • Leading root cause investigations, corrective actions and Non-Conformance Review Boards (NRBs).
  • Participating in design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, customer reviews and programme gate reviews.
  • Monitoring quality metrics, process capability and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintaining robust configuration control, traceability and documentation.
  • Supporting supplier quality and material/process compliance activities.

Requirements

You'll be an experienced engineer or quality professional who enjoys working within highly regulated, technically demanding environments.

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Physics, Quality or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Product Assurance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Quality or Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience working with complex electronic, RF, aerospace, defence or space products.
  • A strong understanding of quality management systems, non-conformance management and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of space-grade electronic components, PCB manufacturing and aerospace soldering standards.
  • Familiarity with ECSS, ESA or NASA quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

It would be great if you also have:

Experience supporting satellite, payload or wider space programmes.

  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience with configuration management, FMEA, risk management, qualification or acceptance testing.
  • Experience supporting supplier or customer audits.
