Lead Backend Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Develop robust, secure, and high-performance applications to support business and customer needs.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and engineering teams to define and implement technical solutions.
• Optimise application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Integrate third-party services, payment systems, and internal tools where required.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and deployment processes.
• Monitor backend systems and troubleshoot production issues to ensure platform stability.
• Contribute to improving development workflows, automation, and engineering standards.
• Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements:

• 7-10 years of experience in Backend Development or Software Engineering.
• Strong proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and system design principles.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, deployment workflows, and version control systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Understanding of scalability, security, and performance optimisation concepts.
• High ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in e-commerce, consumer tech, or high-growth startups is a plus.
