AI Engineer
Location: Ireland
Working model: Hybrid
Function: AI Engineering / R&D
Role type: Hands-on engineering role within FlowForma’s AI-led SDLC
FlowForma is looking for an AI Engineer to help build and evolve our AI-native products and capabilities.
The role sits within our AI-led software development model, where engineers act as the critical human-in-the-loop: defining the technical approach, guiding AI coding agents, reviewing and validating generated code, testing thoroughly, and taking responsibility for production-quality outcomes.
This is not a prompt-only or “vibe coding” role. The successful candidate will be expected to apply strong software engineering judgement throughout the SDLC and use AI tools to increase delivery speed without compromising quality, security or maintainability.
Key responsibilities- Build and enhance AI-enabled products using FlowForma’s AI-led SDLC.
- Translate product requirements into robust technical implementations.
- Use AI coding agents and development tools to accelerate design, coding, refactoring, testing and documentation.
- Act as the human-in-the-loop for AI-generated code, reviewing outputs critically and correcting poor or unsafe implementation.
- Make sound technical and architectural decisions at feature level.
- Own delivery from development through testing, deployment and production support.
- Build and maintain APIs, integrations, data flows and backend services.
- Develop and evaluate AI agents, prompts and LLM-driven workflows where relevant.
- Implement automated tests and maintain strong regression coverage.
- Investigate and resolve defects, performance issues and production incidents.
- Contribute to improving the AI SDLC itself, including development patterns, testing, guardrails and engineering practices.
- Work closely with Product to convert requirements and user feedback into production-ready capability.
- Participate in technical design reviews and peer review with other engineers.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building production software in a modern development stack.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex or equivalent.
- Experience with APIs, cloud services, data integration and distributed application patterns.
- Strong testing and debugging skills.
- Ability to review AI-generated code and understand when it is structurally wrong, insecure, inefficient or unnecessarily complex.
- Familiarity with LLM applications, agentic workflows, prompt engineering or AI evaluation.
- Git-based development and CI/CD experience.
- Strong engineering judgement.
- Comfortable using AI as an engineering accelerator, not as a substitute for engineering discipline.
- Able to operate independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Curious, pragmatic and willing to experiment.
- Capable of moving quickly while still producing maintainable software.
- Comfortable working in an environment where the development process itself is evolving.
- Experience with Azure / Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Experience building SaaS products.
- Experience with agent frameworks, orchestration or LLM evaluation.
- Experience with observability, telemetry and production monitoring.
- Exposure to security, compliance, vendor risk or workflow automation domains.
- Speed and quality of features delivered through the AI SDLC.
- Reliability and maintainability of production releases.
- Ability to use AI tooling effectively without degrading engineering quality.
- Reduction in defects and rework.
- Contribution to improving FlowForma’s AI engineering practices and delivery model.
