Summary
FoodChain ID is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Account Manager to join our UK Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) business.
This role is focused on managing and developing a portfolio of existing UK clients across certification, inspection, testing and related technical services. You will build strong client relationships, understand their operational and compliance requirements, support successful renewals and identify appropriate opportunities to expand the services we provide.
The successful candidate will work closely with technical, operational and commercial colleagues to ensure that client needs are understood and addressed. You will be comfortable engaging with contacts across quality, technical, procurement, sustainability and senior management functions, and able to explain TIC services clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage a defined portfolio of UK clients and act as the principal commercial point of contact for account matters.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders across quality, technical, procurement, sustainability, operations and senior management functions.
- Develop a clear understanding of each client’s business, operating environment, regulatory obligations and future requirements.
- Create and maintain account plans covering relationship objectives, renewal activity, risks, opportunities and agreed actions.
- Lead and coordinate the renewal process for certification, inspection, testing, consulting and other contracted services, working closely with delivery teams.
- Identify relevant cross-sell and account-development opportunities across FoodChain ID’s TIC portfolio, ensuring recommendations are based on genuine client needs.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotations and commercial updates in collaboration with technical and operational colleagues.
- Coordinate internal responses to client requests, ensuring actions are clearly assigned, followed up and completed within agreed timescales.
- Support the resolution of commercial or service issues by bringing the appropriate internal stakeholders together and maintaining clear communication with the client.
- Monitor account performance, client satisfaction, revenue, renewal dates, pipeline and risks, maintaining accurate records in the CRM system.
- Keep informed about developments in UK and international food safety, certification, regulatory and sustainability requirements relevant to clients.
- Provide regular forecasts and account updates to management, highlighting renewal confidence, growth opportunities, risks and required support.
- Experience in account management, client relationship management or business development within TIC, certification, testing, inspection, food safety, regulatory compliance or a related technical services environment.
- A proven record of retaining and developing existing client relationships and achieving commercial targets.
- Experience managing renewals, preparing quotations or proposals, and identifying appropriate additional services for existing clients.
- A practical understanding of the food, agri-food, manufacturing, retail or supply-chain sectors; experience of food safety or sustainability services would be advantageous.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and coordinating activity across technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, together with experience using a CRM system.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification is desirable but not essential where equivalent sector experience is demonstrated.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with contacts at different levels of an organisation.
- Commercially aware and able to identify client needs, assess opportunities and make sound recommendations.
- Able to explain technical or regulated services in clear, practical language.
- Well organised, responsive and capable of managing multiple accounts, deadlines and priorities.
- Strong negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with technical experts, auditors, inspectors, laboratories and operational teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate CRM, forecasting and account records.
- Self-motivated, professional and comfortable working independently in a UK-wide or geographically distributed team.
- Excellent written and spoken English, together with the right to work in the UK.
- This is a remote based opportunity with UK wide client travel.
