Job Description:

This recruitment will be used for a part-time (maximum of 24 hours per week) Industry Liaison Student Assistant position for the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at OSU. This is a part-time position with hours ranging from 9-12 hours per week between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (some evening work may be required). Work hours will be scheduled in coordination with the CCE Industry Liaison and will vary from term to term depending on class schedule. Applicants may not be enrolled in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at OSU.

Position Duties:

100% - Administration, Events, Communication:

  • Experience working and upholding high standards of customer service at all times.

  • Input data in spreadsheets, organize electronic and hard-copy files including photos.

  • Create professional slides and fliers.

  • Enter/update CCE events on OSU Calendar, Handshake, COE Events App, and other platforms.

  • Must have proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canva.

  • Prepare meeting and event materials, such as name badges, table tents, agendas.

  • Assist with events - set up meeting rooms, event set up, moving tables, etc.

  • Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean office area, Kearney and Owen lobbies, bulletin boards, walls.

  • Provide backup support for the reception area, which includes handling visitor questions.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Canva.

  • Attention to detail and high organizational skills.

  • Strong written communication skills and ability to proofread copy for grammatical errors.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate and gain clarification when needed.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Flexibility to switch between tasks to achieve goals in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.

  • Demonstrable skill to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
