We make flour fortification hassle-free. Fortify Health supports mills across India to add iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 to wheat flour – the essential nutrients needed to reduce and prevent iron-deficiency anaemia.

About the role

The Quality Manager will work closely with Quality team members and flour mills to ensure that atta is adequately fortified and meets applicable quality and regulatory standards. They will independently oversee quality control and assurance activities within their assigned region, analyse quality data, provide technical guidance to millers, and strengthen quality systems and processes. The role combines technical expertise, people management, and project execution, with a focus on both day-to-day quality oversight and continuous improvement. This work is critical to ensuring beneficiaries receive a safe, high-quality, and adequately fortified product.

The Quality Manager will report to the Senior Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Assurance

  • Oversee quality control and assurance activities for mills within their purview.
  • Streamline and develop workflows/SOPs and conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions to minimise quality issues and strengthen the effectiveness of the fortification process.

Quality Data, Reporting & Improvement

  • Analyse and consolidate quality data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare periodic reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders, and monitor data quality across tools such as SurveyCTO.
  • Support audits, research, and other initiatives to strengthen quality systems and data processes.

Team Management & Capacity Building

  • Manage team members in their assigned regions, providing clear expectations, workload support, and formal and periodic feedback, and escalating performance concerns to leadership when required.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective candidates and support the hiring process
  • Support the L&D and wellbeing of team members and deliver relevant quality assurance training and capacity-building initiatives.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Develop and execute project plans, aligning stakeholders, responsibilities, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Monitor progress, coordinate meetings and action items, and maintain up-to-date project documentation.
  • Coordinate with external vendors

Organisational Responsibilities & Problem Solving

  • Review approval requests in line with SOPs and ensure outputs meet FH quality standards before sign-off or external sharing.
  • Proactively identify challenges, develop data-driven solutions, and document key decisions and learnings.

Please note that this job description is a guide to the work you will initially be required to undertake, but does not cover all of the duties the post holder may have to perform. Responsibilities will evolve over time, in discussion with the Senior Quality Manager and Associate Director of Quality.

If you were here right now, you would support with…

  • Driving the rollout of AI-based Iron Spot Testing (IST) at scale, coordinating field adoption, training Quality Officers, troubleshooting implementation gaps, and tracking performance metrics
  • Implementing improvements in premix inventory management across mills to ensure no premix is utilized beyond expiry, and ensuring standardized adoption of SOPs across all regions
