We build and maintain pharmacy web platforms and their surrounding systems for clients, and we’re looking for a Software Architect to guide their technical evolution.
You’ll take an end-to-end view of our architecture, from frontend and backend to APIs, integrations, data, and cloud infrastructure, and turn business and client needs into solutions our teams can build. You’ll work closely with developers, product teams, and clients.
This is an architecture-focused role rather than a regular development position. You won't own routine feature development, but you'll work hands-on to validate technical approaches and provide clear implementation guidance to delivery teams.
Key responsibilities:
Architecture and design
- Define and evolve end-to-end architecture of our software systems, balancing scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, performance, observability, and cost.
- Translate product requirements into implementation-ready technical designs and specifications.
- Define architectural principles and lightweight review practices that ensure consistency while preserving team autonomy.
- Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and opportunities to improve system performance, security, and reliability.
Cloud and new technologies
- Design and review cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure, selecting appropriate infrastructure and containerization technologies based on technical requirements, cost, and maintainability.
- Build focused proofs of concept to validate architectural assumptions, assess technical feasibility, and identify implementation risks before development begins.
- Evaluate AI-assisted engineering tools and identify opportunities to integrate AI capabilities into products where they bring measurable value.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and architectural approaches, recommending their adoption when they provide clear technical or business value.
Documentation and communication
- Maintain architecture documentation, including diagrams, decision records, and technical specifications.
- Communicate architectural direction, risks, and recommendations to leadership and development teams.
- Mentor developers and help teams strengthen their software architecture and system design skills.
- Review architectural designs across teams and systems, facilitating technical discussions, and helping teams make informed decisions.
Client collaboration
- Participate in client-facing technical discussions, including discovery, solution design, integrations, and architectural decisions.
- Translate client requirements into solutions that fit our platform and explain options and trade-offs clearly.
Required skills and knowledge:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including experience in a senior, lead, or architecture-focused role.
- Experience designing end-to-end software systems, including frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and data.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure and a strong understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Ability to evaluate architectural alternatives, build technical proofs of concept, and translate designs into implementable specifications.
- A technology-agnostic mindset and the ability to quickly learn and evaluate unfamiliar technologies.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong communication skills in English and Croatian.
Nice to have:
- Experience with AKS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and observability.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, microservices, or modular monoliths.
- Experience integrating large language models or other AI services into production applications.
We offer:
- A secure and fulfilling career with an indefinite period contract, including a 6-month trial period to ensure mutual compatibility.
- Work on long-term, technically challenging projects with opportunities to shape architecture and influence technical decisions.
- Opportunities for personal development through educational initiatives, conferences, access to relevant literature, and industry magazines.
- Friendly and relaxed workplace that encourages collaboration, innovation, and a positive vibe.
- Flexible work schedule with the option for remote work.
- Gross salary based on your skills and experience.
- OS and hardware setup to optimize your work environment according to your preferences.
- Employee Benefits: Christmas bonus, additional private health insurance, co-financed Multisport card.
