Fuse Energy is a British household energy supplier headquartered in London, founded by former Revolut executives. It was the first new domestic energy supplier in Great Britain since the 2021 energy crisis and operates its own renewable generation assets.

Fuse Energy is an energy startup on a mission to make energy abundant and affordable, fast. We combine first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system.

We've raised over $200M from top-tier investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird and Collaborative Fund, alongside strategic angels including Nico Rosberg and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify and Uber.

We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.

As a key member of the Development team, the Project Development Manager identifies, secures and develops new energy projects across data centres, BESS, wind, rooftop, carport and ground-mounted installations. You'll manage the local commercial network, structure Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and lead acquisitions from opportunity through to completion and handover. The ideal candidate has a strong background in project and business development in the renewables and power sector, with a track record of securing projects across the UK. This position reports to the Head of Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder engagement and market development: build and maintain a strong local network of local authorities, landowners, industrial clients and regional administrations; develop new prospecting strategies; engage commercial and industrial clients to structure PPAs and respond to tenders
  • Project acquisition: build relationships with developers, IPPs, utilities, advisors and landowners; source and secure late-stage and Ready-to-Build projects; lead commercial negotiations (NDAs, NBOs, LOIs, exclusivity and acquisition terms) through completion; coordinate due diligence and maintain a robust acquisition pipeline
  • Site identification and feasibility: identify and assess new opportunities through cartographic studies and data analysis; run technical, environmental and regulatory feasibility studies; secure land or lease agreements
  • Project development and permitting: manage the development lifecycle from site selection to pre-construction; liaise with planners, consultants and legal experts on permitting; coordinate with authorities and grid operators for timely approvals
  • Pre-construction and tender management: prepare tender response files; manage risk assessments and procurement tenders; support EPC contract negotiations; draft technical and commercial appendices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's level with a specialisation in power, renewable energy, agronomy, environmental studies or project management (experienced candidates without this are also welcome)
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a development role, with a successful track record in project development
  • Organised, open-minded and autonomous, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a multifaceted environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all types of stakeholders and excellent verbal and written communication
  • Solid analytical skills, strong adaptability and efficiency
  • Knowledge of the UK renewable sector and how local authorities and administrations operate is a plus
  • A valid driving licence (held for more than 1 year) is essential, as travel is required

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and eligibility for equity
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Private health insurance
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office-based employees
