Power BI Architect

We are looking for an experiencedPower BI Architectto design, govern, and optimize enterprise-scale Power BI solutions within a complex global pharma environment.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on Power BI development expertise with architectural ownership, defining scalable semantic models, governance standards, deployment approaches, security models, and development best practices. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and IT teams to ensure that Power BI solutions are performant, maintainable, secure, and aligned with the wider enterprise data strategy.

• Design and maintainenterprise Power BI solution architecture, including datasets, semantic models, reports, workspaces, security, and deployment standards.
• Design scalable and reusablesemantic/data models, applying dimensional modelling and Power BI modelling best practices.
• Develop and reviewadvanced DAX calculations, measures, calculation logic, and complex business KPIs.
• Design and optimize data ingestion and transformation usingPower Query, SQL, and multiple enterprise data sources.
• Performperformance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimizationof Power BI reports, datasets, DAX queries, refresh processes, and semantic models.
• Define standards and best practices forPower BI Service, including workspace architecture, administration, governance, capacity utilization, and report lifecycle management.
• Design and implement robustsecurity models, including Row-Level Security (RLS), access controls, workspace permissions, and data governance requirements.
• Definedeployment, release management, and environment strategiesacross development, testing, and production environments.
• Establish development standards aroundPower BI Project (PBIP), Git-based source control, versioning, branching, and collaborative development.
• Support implementation ofCI/CD and automated deployment practicesfor Power BI solutions.
• Review existing Power BI environments and identify opportunities forstandardization, consolidation, scalability, and performance improvements.
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand analytics requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide architectural guidance, technical reviews, and best-practice recommendations to Power BI developers and analytics teams.
• Contribute to the overallBI and analytics strategy, governance framework, and technology roadmap.

• Extensive hands-on experience withMicrosoft Power BIin large-scale enterprise environments.
• Advanced expertise indata modelling and semantic model architecture.
• Expert-level knowledge ofDAX, including complex calculations and performance optimization.
• Strong hands-on experience withPower Query / M.
• AdvancedSQLskills and experience integrating data from diverse enterprise data sources.
• Strong understanding ofdimensional modelling, star schemas, relationships, cardinality, and model optimization.
• Proven experience withPower BI performance tuning, including DAX optimization, model size reduction, refresh optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Deep knowledge ofPower BI Service, including:
  • Workspaces
  • Apps
  • Gateways
  • Dataset / semantic model management
  • Capacity management
  • Refresh strategies
  • Governance and administration
• Experience implementingRow-Level Security (RLS)and enterprise data access controls.
• Strong understanding ofPower BI governance, security, compliance, and lifecycle management.
• Experience designingdeployment and release strategiesfor enterprise Power BI solutions.
• Hands-on experience withPower BI Project (PBIP).
• Experience withGit, source control, branching, versioning, and collaborative Power BI development.
• Understanding ofCI/CD and DevOps practiceswithin a Power BI / analytics environment.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with bothbusiness and technical stakeholders.

• Experience withMicrosoft Fabric.
• Experience withAzure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, or Databricks.
• Knowledge ofTabular Editor, DAX Studio, Performance Analyzer, and VertiPaq Analyzer.
• Experience withXMLA endpoints and semantic model automation.
• Knowledge ofPower BI REST APIsand administrative automation.
• Experience establishingPower BI Centers of Excellence, governance frameworks, or enterprise BI standards.
• Experience working within a large, global and highly regulated enterprise environment.
