Senior DevOps Engineer - FedRAMP

Location: East Coast, United States - Remote

Employment Type: Full-time

Annual Salary: $170,000-$200,000

Eligibility: U.S. citizenship required due to FedRAMP requirements

Big Ideas. Real People.

At our client, they believe that in the right environment and with the right team, talent has no boundaries. This team spirit, together with our drive to always aim high, has quickly earned us unicorn status and established Orca as a global cloud security innovation leader.

We’re looking for driven and talented people to join our mission to change the future of cloud security. If you’re ready to join a global team that inspires and challenges each other every day, now is the time to find your place in our pod.

Why our Client?

  • High growth: Over the past seven years, Orca has consistently achieved milestones that take other companies a decade or more. We have significantly expanded our team, customer reach, and product capabilities.

  • Disruptive innovation: Orca’s founders recognized that traditional security approaches were not built for the cloud. They pioneered agentless cloud security technology and continue to advance one of the industry’s most comprehensive cloud security platforms.

  • Well-capitalized: With a valuation of $1.8 billion, Orca is a cybersecurity unicorn backed by investors including CapitalG, ICONIQ, GGV, and SVCI.

  • Respectful and transparent culture: Our executives pride themselves on being accessible and openly sharing knowledge. Every employee has an opportunity to help shape the company and the future of cloud security.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to build, operate, monitor, and continuously improve the infrastructure supporting our U.S. federal and FedRAMP environments.

You will work with public-cloud infrastructure, production Kubernetes environments, infrastructure as code, CI/CD systems, observability, and security automation. You will also help ensure that Orca’s GovCloud and other relevant environments remain secure, reliable, scalable, and compliant.

This is one of a small number of U.S.-based engineering positions within a global R&D organization. You will work closely with engineering colleagues in Israel and serve as a key technical resource for Orca’s U.S. infrastructure.

The right candidate is a hands-on engineer who can build infrastructure from scratch, independently debug complex production incidents, make sound architectural decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement solutions that improve new and existing cloud infrastructure.

  • Build, support, and operate infrastructure for FedRAMP-authorized environments.

  • Ensure the reliable and secure operation of Orca’s AWS GovCloud and other relevant environments.

  • Build, administer, and troubleshoot production Kubernetes environments.

  • Investigate Kubernetes and infrastructure incidents from initial symptoms through root-cause analysis and permanent remediation.

  • Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code components using Terraform.

  • Use Ansible to automate configuration, deployment, hardening, and operational processes.

  • Build and support development and production environments for Orca’s R&D organization.

  • Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines.

  • Build monitoring, alerting, and self-healing capabilities.

  • Improve system observability through log analysis, dashboard development, and automated alerts based on established SLOs and SLAs.

  • Apply continuous dependency upgrades and remediate vulnerabilities within FedRAMP environments.

  • Assess infrastructure and deployment procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Respond to system and production issues in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance teams when FedRAMP requirements affect infrastructure or operational decisions.

  • Follow Orca’s policies and procedures related to internal privileged-access rights.

  • Participate in regular collaboration with Orca’s Israel-based engineering team, including an 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time standup Monday through Thursday.

Who You Are

  • You are a U.S. citizen, as required for this FedRAMP environment.

  • You are based on the U.S. East Coast or can consistently work an East Coast schedule.

  • You have at least three years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, platform, cloud, or site reliability engineering.

  • You have at least two to three years of meaningful, hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production.

  • You have personally built or substantially designed cloud infrastructure using Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tooling.

  • You understand Terraform modules, state management, environment separation, code review, and CI/CD practices.

  • You have practical experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.

  • You have experience building, operating, or directly supporting infrastructure within a FedRAMP-authorized environment.

  • You have strong experience working with public-cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS and AWS GovCloud.

  • You have designed and implemented sophisticated CI/CD pipelines.

  • You have experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Graphite, Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.

  • You have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm.

  • You have programming experience with Python, Java, or Go, along with scripting experience using Bash or a similar language.

  • You understand system-level concepts including operating systems, networking, storage, and file-system management.

  • You can diagnose production problems independently and communicate the root cause, remediation, and preventive actions clearly.

  • You are self-driven, resourceful, organized, and eager to learn.

  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

FedRAMP Experience

The strongest candidates will have directly participated in a FedRAMP authorization or continuous monitoring program, with experience in areas such as:

  • Operating AWS GovCloud infrastructure.

  • Implementing or maintaining security controls.

  • Defining or supporting authorization boundaries.

  • Resolving POA&M items.

  • Collecting technical evidence for audits.

  • Managing continuous monitoring and vulnerability remediation.

  • Working within FIPS requirements.

  • Supporting recurring audits or working with compliance teams and external assessors.

Candidates may still qualify if they worked hands-on as a DevOps, platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineer within a FedRAMP-compliant organization, even if they did not personally lead the entire authorization process.

General knowledge of FedRAMP without practical engineering involvement will not be sufficient.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity package.

  • Discounted medical, dental, and vision benefits with significant employer contributions.

  • Benefits coverage beginning on your first day of employment.

  • Generous paid time off with U.S. holidays observed.

  • Flexible remote work environment.

  • Your choice of a Mac or Windows laptop.

  • Work-from-home stipend during your first month of employment.

  • Monthly reimbursement for your cell phone and home internet.

  • The opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues around the world.

The annual salary range for this position is $170,000-$200,000. This represents the typical range based on experience, skills, and other relevant factors.

This position is open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.

Our client is an equal-opportunity employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected

veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
