Gameloft is looking for a Senior Level Designer to build and shape the world for our upcoming games! As a Senior Level Designer, you’ll be a pivotal figure in crafting an engaging environment that captivates players and inspires exploration. You'll collaborate closely with the Lead Designer, Art Director, and Quest Designers to create a world that is both visually appealing and functionally compelling. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in making our worlds an unforgettable experience.

What is means on a daily basis

  • Champion the vision for a believable and immersive world, ensuring its design supports gameplay, narrative, and artistic goals.
  • Drive the creation of the world terrain, landscapes, and environmental features, providing high-level direction and oversight.
  • Design and implement detailed environments, including towns, dungeons, wilderness areas, and points of interest, establishing key design principles and standards.
  • Apply your extensive expertise in level design principles, including flow, pacing, composition, and environmental storytelling.
  • Collaborate closely with quest designers to strategically place content and ensure seamless integration within the world, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide insightful, constructive feedback on level design iterations, focusing on playability, visual quality, and world immersion, and ensuring adherence to design vision.
  • Effectively communicate level design concepts and technical requirements to the art and engineering teams, serving as a key point of contact.
  • Generate innovative environment designs within defined technical constraints and artistic guidelines, pushing the boundaries of the world experience.
  • Develop detailed level documentation, including layout maps, environmental descriptions, and design rationale, setting the standard for the team.
  • Prototype and iterate on level designs, balancing exploration opportunities, combat encounters, and narrative elements, and leading the refinement process.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level level designers, fostering their technical skills and artistic sensibilities, and promoting best practices.

What you need to succeed

  • 6+ years of professional level design experience, bonus for open-worlds or large-scale environments that support action-adventure gameplay.
  • Extensive experience within a professional game studio, with demonstrated success shipping multiple titles.
  • Proficient in world-building tools (e.g., Unreal Engine World Composition, terrain sculpting tools).
  • Deep understanding of level design principles, environmental storytelling, and best practices, with a demonstrable portfolio showcasing your expertise.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to guide and inspire a team.
  • Highly proactive and collaborative team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate about games and a forward-thinking approach to creating immersive and engaging worlds.
