GE Vernova is an American energy company created in April 2024 when General Electric split into three, taking the power, wind and electrification businesses. It builds and services gas turbines that generate a substantial share of the world's electricity, onshore and offshore wind turbines, grid equipment including transformers and high-voltage transmission, and nuclear technology through GE Hitachi and its BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company sits at the centre of two simultaneous demand shocks: the electrification of transport and industry, and the electricity requirements of large-scale artificial intelligence data centres.

Electrification

Our Electrification solutions modernize grids, enable renewable integration, and strengthen energy systems. From software to power conversion and storage, we help create smarter, more resilient energy networks.

Let’s Talk about the Role

The Lead Technical Support Engineer - FACTS & HVDC Services will serve as a key technical reference for our regional FACTS and HVDC operations, driving incident resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will act as the primary technical point of contact for complex electrical engineering challenges, providing expert support to our customers and field service teams. Your work will bridge the gap between back-office engineering and onsite delivery, ensuring our grid solutions remain at the forefront of efficiency, safety, and reliability. By leading root cause analyses and collaborating across internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure our service delivery exceeds customer expectations.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Leading complex root cause analyses for electrical incidents to ensure long-term equipment reliability.
  • Collaborating with internal engineering teams and external clients to resolve technical challenges and provide seamless support.
  • Improving service delivery by identifying process enhancements and driving continuous improvement in data management and technical procedures.
  • Supporting our sales and project teams by providing technical validation for new offers and project setups.
  • Creating high-quality technical documentation and reports that empower our customers and field teams to maintain equipment effectively.
  • Developing the skills of others by training colleagues and client personnel on technical best practices and system operations.

Special Role Requirements

  • Able to travel to and from projects and various field assignments (approximately 10% of the time).
  • Willing to participate in our regional 24/7 emergency support rotation (approx. 1 week per month).

Skills for Success

You should be a collaborative technical expert who thrives on solving complex electrical challenges, with:

  • The ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to power electronics and high-voltage electrical equipment.
  • The capability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including clients and field engineers.
  • An understanding of electrical network simulation, protection, and control systems.
  • An expertise in FACTS and HVDC technology or equivalent industrial power systems.
  • A keen interest in driving continuous improvement and modernizing service processes.

A formal education in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements in technical support, operations, or field engineering within the energy sector.
