General Dynamics is an American defence and aerospace group whose predecessor built submarines from 1899, and it is unusual among primes for owning a large commercial business alongside its military ones. Its four segments are Marine Systems, which builds Virginia and Columbia class submarines and Navy destroyers, Combat Systems, which makes the Abrams tank and armoured vehicles, Aerospace, which builds Gulfstream business jets, and Technologies, its government IT and mission services arm. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, its submarine programmes carry a backlog measured in decades.

General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers a diverse portfolio of high technology solutions, products and services that enable customers to successfully execute missions across all domains of operation. With a global team of more than 13,000 top professionals, we partner with the best in industry to expand the bounds of innovation in the defence and scientific arenas. In the UK, we are leading the way in avionics and communication systems. Given the nature of our work and who we are, we value trust, honesty, alignment and transparency.

General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

An exciting opportunity to join General Dynamics, a leading-edge defence company, as a Senior Production Test & Repair Engineer. We are particularly interested in engineers with strong electronics troubleshooting experience, including PCB fault-finding, schematic interpretation, root cause analysis and component-level repair.

Defence experience is not essential. Applications are welcomed from candidates within aerospace, rail, telecoms, industrial electronics, manufacturing, medical devices and other technically complex environments.

In this role you will:

  • Provide test solutions for highly technical electronic circuits and units
  • Undertake test strategies and develop test solutions to ensure our products meet all our quality requirements and safe functionality within the aircraft
