Sr Financial Analyst, Accounting Policy & Strategic Initiatives

OVERVIEW
As a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) in the Corporate Accounting Group with General Mills, you will partner with the Global Accounting Organization (GAO) and cross-functional business partners to support accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements.
In this role, you will support accounting and financial reporting matters related to portfolio shaping and other strategic investments to drive sustainable growth, partnering with both internal and external business partners to ensure accurate and timely financial statement reporting in accordance with US GAAP. In addition, you will also partner with GAO and cross-functional teams on accounting policy consultations, assessment and implementation of new accounting and regulatory guidance, and maintenance of global accounting and control standards.

- Support the assessment and adoption of FASB Accounting Standard Updates and other evolving regulatory requirements. This includes significant partnership with various GAO and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely adoption of guidance on a global basis.
- Involvement in technical accounting and financial reporting matters related to M&A activities, corporate investments, and strategic investments.
- Build significant cross-functional relationships through day-to-day and project-based interactions with internal and external business partners, while supporting enterprise portfolio shaping objectives.
- Build project management skills through ownership of accounting and financial reporting work plans for M&A and related activities.
- Deepen accounting and reporting technical expertise related to multiple US GAAP subject matters as well as SEC financial reporting requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate in technical accounting and financial reporting matters for M&A activities including review of legal agreements, compilation of purchase accounting, support of Financial Reporting or other GAO teams related to acquisition and deconsolidation accounting and reporting and support of Corporate P&A related to financial forecasting.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for M&A and related activity technical accounting and financial reporting matters, including support of any related SEC filings and/or press releases.
- Partner with both GAO teams and cross-functional business partners on the assessment of the accounting impact of new transactions and initiatives, including the accounting for business combinations, asset acquisitions, as well as implementation of new accounting and regulatory guidance.
- Advise GAO teams on complex accounting and policy questions. Support the global consultation process on inquiries, including partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Maintain our global accounting & control standards.
- Drive process improvement in our dynamic global accounting & controls environment.
- Monitor the external environment for new regulatory and accounting guidance. Support the assessment and implementation efforts for the GAO.
- Contribute to and support the quarterly SEC financial reporting 10-Q/K processes.
- Partner with GAO team members and cross-functional business partners by delivering technical accounting, consolidations, reporting, and controls guidance both on recurring and nonrecurring activities, within various subject matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Accounting
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Detailed-oriented, results-oriented, proactive, agile
- Strong organizational skills
- Process and process improvement driven mindset
- Ability to work with and influence different stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
- Aptitude for broad US GAAP subject matter, codification research, and documentation experience
- Ability to work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA
- Master’s in Accounting
- Big Four public accounting firm experience
- Working knowledge of SAP and OneStream
- SEC filing experience
- Experience with the implementation of new accounting standards
- M&A-related accounting, financial reporting, or audit experience

SALARY RANGE
The salary range for this position is:
$82,400 - $123,800 AnnualAt General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
