- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL and Java to support business requirements.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing legacy systems to ensure performance, reliability, and stability.
- Develop and maintain backend applications, including system integrations between COBOL-based and Java-based applications.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, System Analysts, QA Engineers, and other development teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Perform code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and application enhancements.
- Conduct Unit Testing and support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and defect resolution.
- Provide production support, investigate system incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications, system designs, and development documentation.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development.
Strong programming skills in both COBOL and Java are required.
Solid understanding of legacy systems, backend development, and application maintenance.
Experience in code analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Good knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and data processing.
Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software testing, and deployment processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
Experience in Banking Loan / Lending Systems is highly preferred.
Knowledge of Loan Origination, Loan Management, Loan Repayment, or Loan Processing.
Experience with Mainframe technologies such as JCL, CICS, or DB2.
Experience integrating COBOL applications with Java, APIs, or external systems.
Familiarity with Core Banking Systems and financial transaction processing.
