Enterprise Network and Firewall
Services

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Analyst, Enterprise Network and Firewall Services is a senior technical individual contributor
responsible for operating, securing, supporting and continuously improving the organization's enterprise
network and firewall environment.
This role provides hands-on expertise across network connectivity, firewalls, Secure Access Service Edge
(SASE), segmentation, remote access, routing, switching, wireless, cloud networking and network monitoring.
The Senior Analyst supports day-to-day operations, resolves complex incidents, implements approved
changes, remediates security risks and contributes to network modernization and cybersecurity initiatives.
The successful candidate will have strong enterprise networking and network-security experience, sound
operational judgment and the ability to work effectively with cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, field
technology, application and business teams. This role also provides technical guidance and mentorship to
other analysts but does not have formal people-management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Network and Firewall Operations
- Support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, availability, performance and security of the enterprise network.
- Administer and support technologies including:
- Check Point firewalls and associated security services
- Cato Networks Secure Access Service Edge
- Zero Networks microsegmentation
- Enterprise routing and switching
- Wireless networking and network access control
- Internet, WAN, data-centre, cloud, branch and remote-user connectivity
- Secure remote access and zero-trust network access
- Network monitoring, logging, observability and performance-management platforms
- Monitor network health, availability, capacity, performance and security events.
- Investigate and resolve network connectivity, latency, routing, firewall, wireless, remote-access and
application-communication issues.
- Maintain firewall policies, network objects, access rules, security zones, routing configurations, VPNs and related controls.
- Review and process firewall and network-access requests in accordance with security standards, least-privilege principles
and change-management requirements.
- Support network segmentation and microsegmentation controls across on-premises, cloud, branch and operational
technology environments.
- Maintain accurate device configurations, network records, diagrams, inventories and operational documentation.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, after-hours changes, incident response and on-call support as required.

Incident, Problem and Escalation Management
- Serve as an escalation point for complex network and firewall incidents.
- Lead or support technical troubleshooting during service interruptions, cybersecurity events and high-priority business
escalations.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, carriers and service providers to restore services and resolve technical issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and document findings, contributing factors, corrective actions and preventive
recommendations.
- Identify recurring incidents and recommend technical, procedural, monitoring or automation-based improvements.
- Escalate significant operational, security, capacity, lifecycle or resiliency risks to appropriate technical and management
stakeholders.
- Communicate incident status, technical findings, business impacts and recovery progress clearly to technical and
non-technical audiences.
- Ensure operational follow-up actions are documented, assigned, tracked and completed.
Network Security and Risk Management
- Implement and maintain network-security controls that protect enterprise users, systems, applications, cloud environments
and business locations.
- Apply zero-trust, least-privilege, defence-in-depth and segmentation principles to network and firewall operations.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to investigate threats, review security events and remediate vulnerabilities or
configuration risks.
- Review firewall policies and network-access rules to identify obsolete, overly permissive, duplicate or unsupported
configurations.
- Support periodic firewall recertification, security-control validation, access reviews and configuration assessments.
- Respond to vulnerability findings, audit observations, penetration-test results and security recommendations affecting the
network environment.
- Ensure network changes follow established security standards, technical requirements and approval processes.
- Support logging and monitoring requirements for firewalls, remote access, network infrastructure and security services.
- Maintain awareness of current cybersecurity threats, vendor advisories, vulnerabilities and network-security practices.
Change and Configuration Management
- Plan, document, test, implement and validate network and firewall changes.
- Develop implementation plans that include prerequisites, dependencies, testing, communication, risk assessment and
rollback procedures.
- Participate in change reviews and clearly communicate technical risks and potential business impacts.
- Ensure configuration changes are completed according to approved designs, security standards and operational
procedures.
- Validate services following changes and coordinate remediation or rollback when expected outcomes are not achieved.
- Maintain configuration backups, standard templates, baseline configurations and version-controlled documentation.
- Identify opportunities to standardize configurations and reduce unnecessary variation across the environment.
- Support lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patches, migrations, hardware replacement and retirement of unsupported
technologies.
Engineering and Project Delivery
- Participate in network, firewall, cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure and business technology projects.
- Translate approved architectures and high-level designs into detailed configurations, implementation plans and operational
procedures.
- Configure and deploy network and security technologies in accordance with established standards.
- Support new site deployments, cloud connectivity, application onboarding, network segmentation, data-centre initiatives
and disaster-recovery capabilities.
- Conduct technical testing and validation for new technologies, integrations, configurations and service improvements.

- Identify technical dependencies, implementation risks, operational requirements and support considerations during project
planning.
- Work with architects and engineering leads to ensure deployed solutions are secure, reliable, scalable, supportable and
observable.
- Participate in proof-of-concept and pilot activities involving network and network-security technologies.
- Ensure completed projects transition effectively into operational support.
Automation and Continuous Improvement
- Identify repetitive operational activities that can be standardized or automated.
- Develop or support automation using APIs, scripting, infrastructure as code, configuration-management tools and policy
automation.
- Help expand network infrastructure-as-code capabilities across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, configuration validation, compliance reporting and operational visibility.
- Develop reusable configuration templates, technical procedures, troubleshooting guides and implementation standards.
- Contribute to the reduction of technical debt and the simplification of network and security operations.
- Use operational data and incident trends to recommend improvements to reliability, performance, security and
supportability.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging networking, cloud, automation and cybersecurity technologies.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain network diagrams, configuration records, support procedures, troubleshooting guides and recovery
documentation.
- Ensure technical documentation accurately reflects the production environment.
- Document significant technical decisions, operational risks, known issues and temporary workarounds.
- Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to analysts, service-desk teams, field technology teams and other
support groups.
- Mentor less-experienced analysts and assist with the development of their technical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Contribute to operational readiness reviews and ensure support teams are prepared before new services enter production.
- Participate in technical discussions and help teams reach clear, evidence-based decisions.
Stakeholder and Vendor Engagement
- Build productive relationships with cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, identity, application, field technology and business
teams.
- Work with stakeholders to understand connectivity and security requirements and translate them into appropriate
technical solutions.
- Communicate technical requirements, constraints, risks, timelines and recommendations clearly.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and service-restoration activities across multiple internal and external teams.
- Work with technology vendors, carriers and managed-service providers to resolve incidents and deliver service
improvements.
- Participate in product evaluations, vendor technical reviews and solution-validation activities.
- Hold vendors accountable for meeting established technical, security, performance and support requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, cybersecurity or a related discipline, or an
equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise networks, firewalls, network security or
related infrastructure.
- Strong experience with enterprise firewall administration, network-access policies, routing, switching, VPNs and network
troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting complex, geographically distributed enterprise environments.

- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, wireless networking and
application connectivity.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including zero trust, least privilege, defence in depth, segmentation, secure
remote access and vulnerability management.
- Experience implementing production changes through formal change-management processes.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems involving multiple systems and teams.
- Experience supporting major incidents and communicating effectively during high-impact service interruptions.
- Ability to interpret technical designs and translate them into detailed configurations and implementation plans.
- Strong technical documentation, analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing operational and project priorities with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Check Point firewalls in large-scale or highly available environments.
- Experience with Check Point Maestro, CloudGuard or centralized Check Point management.
- Experience with Cato Networks or another enterprise SASE platform.
- Experience with Zero Networks or another microsegmentation or zero-trust platform.
- Experience with enterprise routing and switching platforms, particularly in data-centre, campus, branch or fabric-based
environments.
- Experience with cloud networking in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience supporting network connectivity for hybrid-cloud, disaster-recovery or data-centre modernization initiatives.
- Experience with enterprise wireless networking and network access-control platforms.
- Familiarity with operational technology networking and secure third-party remote access.
- Experience with network automation, APIs, scripting, infrastructure as code, configuration management or policy
automation.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, observability, vulnerability-management and security-event platforms.
- Relevant certifications in enterprise networking, Check Point, cloud networking, cybersecurity, SASE or network
automation.
